This is my guide to the Pit Exit 1 grandstand at the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit, known as the Hungaroring.
It includes my tips on picking the best seats in the grandstand, plus it includes a full seating plan, videos of the view from different seats, tickets and more.

Pit Exit 1 Grandstand location
The Pit Exit 1 grandstand used to be called the Gold 3 grandstand at the Hungaroring. But from 2025 onwards it’s been renamed to Pit Exit 1.
The stand is on the outside (left-hand side) of the circuit running alongside the end of the start / finish straight. It’s opposite to the pit lane exit and is in the braking zone for Turn 1.
It’s adjacent to the larger T1 grandstand to its left, and the new Pit Exit 2 grandstand to its right.
A ticket for this grandstand will get you a reserved seat in the stand, plus access to all general admission areas around the circuit, including F1 fan zones.
Pit Exit 1 Grandstand details
Cover
This grandstand isn’t covered. It has no roof, so it’s exposed to the weather. Be prepared – it can rain during the Hungarian GP!
Seats
The seats are individual plastic chairs with fixed seat bases.
TV screens
There’s one large TV screen directly across the track from the middle of this stand and another on the other side of the track but slightly off to the right. Everyone in this stand will have good visibility of a screen.
Pit Exit 1 Grandstand F1 tickets
Tickets for this grandstand sell out fast on the official Hungarian GP website. So if you still want tickets, I’d recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo instead, where there is always a great selection for sale right up until race day, even when they are sold out elsewhere.
Sometimes you can find them at lower prices at the last minute, plus there are lots of single day ticket options available.
I’ve bought most of my F1 tickets through ViaGoGo over the last few years and have had a great experience each and every time. They also have their FanProtect guarantee which ensures your tickets and money are protected, which is great for peace of mind.
Pit Exit 1 Grandstand seating plan
Below is the seating plan for the Pit Exit 1 grandstand at the Hungaroring:
As the seating plan above shows the grandstand is made up of 6 sections (or sectors) from A to F (there’s no section I). Section A is closest to Turn 1 and Section F is closest to the start / finish line.
Rows are numbered from 1 lowest down at the front and go up to 12 at the back. There is also an additional row at the top for wheelchair users, plus a chair for their carers.
The 6 sections are effectively in pairs (A and B, C and D, E and F) with an entrance walkway in the middle of each pair (shown as the grey gap between the blue sections on the seat plan above). The seat numbers increase from 1 when you walk outwards from the walkway in to your section.
Pit Exit 1 grandstand view
As the name suggests, this grandstand is directly opposite the pit lane exit. So you have a fantastic view of the F1 cars emerging from the pits and rejoining the track on the inside of Turn 1.
As you look to your left, you can see the cars braking, entering and apexing Turn 1. You can also see some of the start / finish straight to your right, but the larger grandstands further along the straight block the view of the start / finish line.
The parts of the track highlighted in green in the image below show the areas of the circuit visible from here:
As mentioned above, this grandstand used to be called the Gold 3 grandstand. It’s only in the last couple of years the name has changed to Pit Exit 1. So some of the videos below will be from Gold 3, but the view, section numbers and seat layouts will be the same.
This first video was filmed from Section A row 8 seat 20, the furthest seat to the left in the furthest sector to the left. From here, you can see you get a great view back up the start / finish straight, but still can’t see the start line. You have a perfect view of the pit exit and you’re in the closest possible section to the first corner, so still in a good spot to see some turn 1 action:
This next video was filmed from Section D row 4. That’s further to the right in the stand and much lower down. Lower down means you’re closer to the track but don’t have quite as good a vantage point for seeing the cars once they’ve apexed the first corner:
And this next video was filmed from Section F row 9. That’s the furthest sector to the right, closer to the start / finish line. But even though it’s closer to the start, you still can’t see it from here as the angle of the fence line and the larger grandstand further along the straight still block your view:
That video also shows that being this far to the right puts you further away from the braking zone and apex of the first corner, so it’s harder to see the action down there.
Best seats in the Pit Exit 1 Grandstand
Personally I would prefer to sit as close to the first corner as possible. So I would suggest trying to get seats in Sector A or B to be as close to that first turn as possible.
I’d also try and go for higher seats, preferable rows 8 and above, to get a bigger vantage point. The higher you are the longer you can see the cars for once they’ve hit the apex of the first corner.
Is the Pit Exit 1 Grandstand a good place to sit?
If you can get my preferred seats above then this is a good choice of grandstand. But it’s not as good as the adjacent T1 grandstand, because from there you get an even better view of the potential chaos at the first corner. Plus, as the main straight is a DRS zone, that corner is also where most of the overtaking happens.
So this is a good backup grandstand, but wouldn’t be my first pick.
