Hungaroring Fan Grandstand: Views, Seat Plan,Tickets

Alex Gassman
Hungaroring fan grandstand view

This is my guide to the Fan grandstand at the Hungaroring. This stand used to be called Silver 5 but has been renamed in the last couple of years.

This guide features my tips for selecting the best seats, plus videos of the view from different locations in the stand so you know what to expect. It also includes a full seating chart which shows the section and row numbers. I’ve also added my tips on the cheapest places to find tickets.

Hungaroring Fan grandstand location

The Fan grandstand is on the left hand side of the Hungaroring F1 circuit between turns 11 and 12. It’s on the left hand side of the track, half way along the straight between these two corners.

The Fan grandstand is also right next to one of the main Fan Zones, so it’s great for easy access to food and entertainment. It’s also close to one of the main entrances so location-wise it’s great. The view from the stand can be seen lower down this page.

This is most easily accessed using entrance gate 6.

Grandstand details

Cover

Like all the other grandstands at the Hungarian GP track (except the new Main Hungaroring grandstand) this one is uncovered.

As it’s uncovered you’ll be in the sun (or rain) all day. See my guide on What to wear to the Hungarian GP for some tips.

Seats

The seats are individual plastic chairs.

TV screens

There’s one TV screen on the other side of the track. It’s in the middle of the stand, so if you sit in one of the middle sectors you’ll be directly opposite it. It’s pretty close to the other edge of the track so is nice and visible.

Hungaroring Fan grandstand tickets

Because of this grandstand’s location, it’s a popular place to sit at the Hungarian Formula 1 race. So tickets often sell out fast for this stand at the Grand Prix. If that’s the case but you still want to sit here I’d recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo.

There is always a great selection of tickets available on their website, even if they’re sold out elsewhere. And if you wait a bit you can often find them at discounted prices in the days leading up to the race. That’s what I’ve done before and I managed to grab myself a bit of a bargain.

I have bought all my F1 tickets on ViaGoGo over the last few seasons, including for when I attended the British, Belgian and Dutch Grand Prix. I’ve always had a great experience using them and would happily do so again next time without question.

Plus, for added peace of mind when I bought my tickets, they have a very robust ‘FanProtect’ guarantee that made sure my tickets and money would be safe and protected.

Hungaroring Fan grandstand seating plan

Below is the seating plan for the Fan grandstand at the Hungaroring:

The seating plan shows the grandstand is made up of four sectors, strangely, named E to F. Sector E is the closest to Turn 12 and Sector H is the closest to Turn 11. I think the sectors start at E because the Apex 2 grandstand which is the next grandstand to the left of this one has sectors which end at D, so I think they’ve carried them on strangely.

Sectors E and F of the Fan grandstand are 13 rows high. Sectors G and H are just 9 rows high. The TV screen is opposite the middle of the stand, so Sectors F and G have the best view of it.

View

The image below shows the areas of the track visible from the Fan grandstand highlighted in green:

As the image shows, the view from this stand is predominantly of the exit of Turn 11, the whole straight between Turns 11 and 12, Turn 12 and then the short straight after that corner. You can’t quite see the apex of Turn 13 or anything after that point.

Below are some videos showing the view from different seats in the stand. Bear in mind that some of these are a few years old and refer to the stand by its old name Silver 5, but it’s in the exact same location and the sector / row layout is exactly the same.

This first video was filmed from Sector E row 12, almost as high up in the stand as you can get, and in the furthest sector to the left. As the video shows you have a great view of the exit of Turn 11, the straight and Turn 12, but not much else other than that. It’s also a little to the left of the TV screen, but it’s still quite easy to see it:

This next video was filmed from Sector F row 13,the back row. As it shows, we’re now pretty much directly opposite the TV screen and have a slightly different vantage point that allows us to see a little more of the apex of Turn 13. But I believe there’s some adverting boarding near the bridge over the track at the entry to Turn 13 now that blocks that extra bit of view:

This next video was filmed more recently in 2023, and was taken from Sector F row 12 seat 4. You can see the black boarding that now slightly blocks the view of the cars as they enter Turn 13 in the distance:

This next video was filmed from Sector G row 9, the back row in that section of the stand. From here you have a better view of the cars apexing and exiting Turn 11, but lose them out of sight slightly sooner once they’ve gone around Turn 12 to your left:

And finally this video was filmed from Sector H row 9, the back row of the furthest section to the right. Again, great view of Turn 11 but not so much visibility of the F1 cars once they’ve exited Turn 12 to your left:

Best seats

Personally, I think I’d choose seats in sectors G or H on the right hand side of this stand to get a slightly better view of the cars coming around the very fast Turn 11. Sitting there you lose a little visibility of the cars as they approach Turn 13 but you couldn’t see much of that anyway so I wouldn’t be too fussed.

I’d try and get seats in the back row, row 9, of sector G or H just to be as high up as possible.

Is this a good place to sit?

Honestly, I don’t think the view from this stand is particularly great. You would be better off going for one of the many stands located around Turn 14, the final corner, such as Apex 1 or the Grand Prix 2 grandstand.

Where the Fan stand is located, you aren’t likely to see much overtaking. But the screen is nice and close, which is a big positive.

The main appeal of this stand is its location. It’s right next to one of the main Fan Zones which has the stage where the driver interviews are held between sessions. There lots of food and drink vendors there, plus other entertainment. It’s also close to one of the main entrances, so it’s very well located.

It’s also next to a number of Hungaroring parking areas.
