Is there a dress code at the Hungarian Grand Prix?
Officially, there is no dress code for people with Hungary General Admission or grandstand tickets. If that’s you, then feel free to wear whatever you want. Go for the most fashionable or most comfortable outfit you can find, depending on where you priorities lay!
If you have VIP Hospitality or Paddock Club tickets, then there are a few guidelines that you should follow for what to wear when attending those areas. Read on for more info.
What to wear - F1 general admission / grandstands
Dress for the weather
As there’s no dress code for those with grandstand or General Admission tickets, then you can wear whatever you like to the Formula 1 in Hungary. But you should consider dressing to remain comfortable in the weather.
The race takes place at the Hungaroring circuit, just outside Budapest. It’s held in August which is in the middle of the summer.
The weather at this time of year should be hot and dry. Expect lows of around 12 – 15°C and highs just over 30°C. Here’s what the weather did for the previous race:
Whilst it should be hot and dry, there’s always a slight chance of it raining at some point over the Hungarian GP weekend. However the last time we had a fully wet Hungarian Grand Prix was 2006, when Jenson Button took his first victory in F1. But if it’s looking like there’s a chance of rain, pack a lightweight poncho you can easily carry and put on if needed.
So keep an eye on the forecast in the build up to the weekend, but you can always expect it to be warm, so dress appropriately and bring suitable sun protection.
Footwear
If you’ve got General Admission tickets then it’s likely you’ll do a lot of walking as you check out the different view points.
With that in mind, wear comfortable shoes – your feet will thank you later. And if even it doesn’t rain during the weekend, most of the areas around the circuit you’ll be walking / viewing from are grass. So any recent rain will make that muddy.
Hungarian GP tickets
Still need tickets to the Hungarian Grand Prix? If so, I’d recommend buying them on ViaGoGo where there are always tickets available right up until race day on Sunday.
I’ve used ViaGoGo a number of times for F1 tickets over the last few years and have always had a great experience. I bought my tickets for the Vegas GP and British GP through them and managed to get them at the last minute for under the official prices.
They also have a Fan Protect guarantee which will make sure tickets and money are safe, which is good for peace of mind!
Hungary F1 outfit examples
Here are some examples of outfits you could wear to the Hungarian Grand Prix as a grandstand or general admission ticket holder. You’ll see a lot of people in F1 team merchandise; you can buy it at the track but it’ll be crazy expensive. Buy it online beforehand to save yourself some $$$:
Hungary F1 Hospitality / VIP dress code
If you’ve got tickets to the Paddock Club or other VIP Hospitality areas at the Hungarian GP, then these ask you to follow a slightly more ‘smart-casual’ dress code.
So avoid ripped jeans, sandals, flip-flops and sports tracksuits. If it’s hot you can still dress for the weather by wearing shorts, but just try and make them a little smarter than your usual streetwear. You can still wear F1 team merchandise in these areas.
