View from the Red Bull grandstand / tribune at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Austria

This is my guide to the Red Bull grandstand at the Red Bull Ring GP circuit in Spielberg, Austria.

In this guide I’ve included my best tips for picking the perfect seats in this grandstand, a number of videos which show the views from different seats and sectors, a full seating plan and some information on how to get tickets for this grandstand even if they’re sold out in other places.

Red Bull Ring Red Bull grandstand location

The Red Bull grandstand is also known as the Red Bull tribune. Some sectors of this stand are exclusive for Max Verstappen fans, and those ticket holders occasionally refer to it as the West grandstand. The grandstad is on the left hand side of the circuit after the exit of the first corner.

It’s the largest grandstand at the circuit, bigger even than the main start-ziel stand on the home straight. To the right and at 90 degrees to this stand is the Steiermark stand which offers quite a different perspective.

When buying tickets for this stand you might see them split in to a number of different sectors:

  • Red Bull A
  • Red Bull B
  • Red Bull C,D,E
  • Red Bull F,G,H,I
  • Red Bull J,K
  • Red Bull L,M,N,O,P

Lower down this guide you’ll find a full seating chart which shows where these sections are.

The grandstand is also really close to the main Fan Zone during the F1 weekend. It’s also close to the main car park, and can be easily accessed through entrance gates B or C.

Grandstand details

Cover

This grandstand is uncovered. There’s no protection from the weather so make sure you’re prepared with sunscreen / sun hats / rain coats, depending on the forecast!

Seats

The chairs are individual plastic seats.

TV screens

This is a very long stand so there are three different screens visible from it. These are all on the other side of the circuit:

  • The first is opposite sector A, on the inside of Turn 1.
  • The second is opposite sector I / J, close to Turn 7
  • The third is opposite sector O / P, close to Turn 6

Red Bull Grandstand Tickets

This is one of the most popular seating locations at the Red Bull Ring, meaning tickets for the F1 here often sell out fast.

Even if they’re still available though, you can’t choose your specific seats on the official Red Bull Ring website. So instead I would recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo where there will be a big selection of tickets available even when they’re sold out elsewhere. Plus the tickets listed there normally specify the exact seats.

You can also grab a bit of a bargain if you watch the ticket prices on there in the days leading up to the GP, when prices usually start coming down as people are keen to sell them.

I’ve used ViaGoGo for my tickets to a number of Grand Prix events over the last three seasons. That includes my trips to watch the F1 at Silverstone, Zandvoort, Spa Francorchamps and Las Vegas. I’ve always had a great experience using their service and I’ll definitely be  doing so again next time.

Additionally, for some peace of mind, they have a ‘Fan Protect’ guarantee which protects your tickets and your money.

Red Bull Grandstand Seating Plan

Below is the seating plan for the Red Bull grandstand at the Red Bull Ring:

The seating chart above shows that the Red Bull stand has sectors which go from A to P. Sector A is closest to the exit to Turn 1, and Sector P is furthest from it.

As you can see, apart from the gap beween sectors K and L the rest of the stand is continuous. So a ticket, for example, for Red Bull C,D,E doesn’t mean C, D, E is a seperate stand. Instead you’d just be assigned a seat in one of those three sectors.

The Max Verstappen fan area of this stand is usually in the last three sectors (furthest to the left).

In every section the rows start at 1 lowest down nearest the front and increase the higher up / further back you go.

Seat numbers start at 1 in each section. They increase from right to left as you’re sat in the stand looking at the circuit.

View

On the map below I’ve highlighted the areas of circuit visible from this stand in green. But because this stand is so long, not all sectors get this full view. See the videos lower down for more detail.

In general, this grandstand offers a great view of the long uphill straight that goes from Turn 1 all the way to Turn 3. Most seats also give you a great view of the infield section including Turns 6 and 7.  Some seats also offer a bit more of a vantage point of the start finish straight.

The video below will help to show how the view changes depending where you sit.

This first video was filmed from Sector A row 22 seat 7. That’s quite high and almost as far to the right as you can get, and as you can see this allows you to see pretty much all of the way down the start / finish straight:

This video was filmed from Sector A row 6 seat 8 at the MotoGP.  Even though it’s still very far to the right, being lower down means the pit lane buildings block the view of the start / finish straight. But as you look to the left you can see all the way up the hill and turns 6 / 7 on the infield:

The next video was filmed from Sector C back row (row 34):

This video shows the view from Sector E row 20:

This video shows the view from a high row in Sector G:

This next video was filmed from Sector K back row (row 34):

The next video was filmed from Sector N row 4 seat 36:

And finally this video was filmed from Sector M, row 5, seat 44:

One other thing to bear in mind is that the view from the front row isn’t good. The 360 degree image below shows the view from Row 1 Sector F, and because the grass is long the view of the circuit is obstructed:

Best seats

Tickets for seats in sectors A and B in the Red Bull grandstand are the most expensive because they put you closest to the action at Turn 1.

If you want a view down the start / finish straight then you need seats in Sector A, rows 25 and above in seats 1-10. Anything other than that and it’s likely your view will be blocked by the pitlane buildings.

Is the extra cost of the seats in sectors A and B worth it? I don’t really think so. As long as you get seats in rows 15 and above you’ll have a great vantage point spanning the infield and looking up towards Turn 3. Use the seating chart above to pick a sector directly opposite a TV screen (A, H, I, N and O are best for that).

Is this a good place to sit?

The atmosphere in this grandstand is always great, especially if you’re in the Max Verstappen specific sectors. If you’re in sectors A, B, C or D you’ll be well positioned to see any first corner incidents, of which there are usually a few.

Aside from the on-track action, this stand gives you easy access to the main Formula 1 Fan Zone and there’s loads of food and drinks vendors near by.

But my #1 choice of granstand at the Red Bull Ring is the T3 grandstand with its stunning picturesque views.
