Red Bull Ring Entrances & Gates – F1 Austria

Red Bull Ring entrance sign saying Welcome Race Fans

There’s a number of different entrance gates at the Red Bull Ring that you can use when you’re going there for the Austrian Formula 1 race. But some gates will be much further away than your grandstand or viewing area than you’d ideally like.

So below I’ve provided my tips on which gates to use, plus I’ve listed the opening times.

Red Bull Ring Entrances

At the Formula 1 weekend at the Red Bull Ring circuit there’s a total of 6 different entrance gates you can use to get access to the circuit.

These are gates A, B, C, D, E and F.

The map below shows their location around the circuit:

You can also see them on the map provided by the circuit below:

Which gate is closest to my grandstand?

It’s a good idea to try and aim for the entrance gate that is closest to where you’re going to be watching the racing from. If you’re a granstand ticket holder that will be your specific stand, or if you’re a General Admission ticket holder that will be the green zone for GA viewing between turns 3 and 4.

Below I’ve listed which gates are closest to each of these:

The gate you end up at when you arrive at the track might be determined by how you get to the Red Bull Ring.

If you’re arriving on one of the buses from another town or city, they will park closer to gate D.

Most of the parking is near gates A, B and C, but some is also up near gate E. For more information on how to park close to your grandstand check out my full guide to parking at the Red Bull Ring.

If you end up at a gate nowhere near where you need to be, there is a free shuttle bus that runs between different gates. So, for example, if you’re sat at Turn 3 but you’ve ended up by gate A, getting on the shuttle will save you at least 45 minutes of walking uphill.

Entrance gate opening times

Below are the opening times for the spectator gates during the F1 weekend:

  • Friday – 07:00
  • Saturday – 07:00
  • Sunday – 07:00

Bag searches

When you arrive at the entrances you need to show them your F1 ticket. A digital copy on your phone is fine, but it’s a good idea to download a copy before you get to the track in case the internet signal is bad.

Your bag will be searched upon entry. Some of the key things that are prohibited at the Red Bull Ring are:

  • Alcohol
  • Glass bottles (metal refillable water bottles are fine)
  • Flares
  • Drones
  • Animals (except those with assistance animals – if that’s you contact the circuit before arriving)
