This is my review and guide for spectating in the T2 Grandstand at Lusail International Circuit, for the Qatar Grand Prix.
In this guide I’ve included some videos of the view from different positions in the stand, a full seating chart, info on where to get tickets – even a the last minute – and my top tips on selecting the best seats.

T2 Grandstand Qatar Location
The T2 Grandstand at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha in Qatar is on the left-hand side (outside) of the track at the second corner.
As you can see lower down this guide, the grandstand is actually facing both the entry and exit of Turn 2.
Directly adjacent to this stand on the left is the T3 grandstand.
If you have a ticket for the T2 grandstand at the Qatar Formula 1 race then you’ll also get access to the General Admission Lusail Hill viewing area on the outside of the track at T1.
In the satellite image below you can see how this grandstand curves around Turn 2 and provides views of both before and after the corner:
Grandstand details
Cover
The T2 grandstand is uncovered, but it’s not really any issue. The Qatar Formula 1 Grand Prix is a night race so there’s no worries about the sun then. And even for the sessions like FP1 and FP3 which are earlier in the day, they’re held after the sun has passed its hottest point. And the part of this stand that looks towards Turn 3 is actually shaded anyway, as the sun sets behind it.
Being in the desert it can get cold at night some bring extra layers to wrap up with.
Seats
The seats in this stand are individual plastic chairs.
TV screens
There are actually 3 different TV screens visible from this stand, meaning whichever part of the stand you sit in you’ll have visibility of one. The map below shows their location:
T2 Grandstand tickets Lusail Circuit
Tickets for the granstands at the Lusail circuit can often sell out quickly for the F1 and MotoGP. If that’s the case you can do what I do which is to buy your tickets through ViaGoGo instead as they’ll have tickets for sale right up until the Sunday of the race weekend itself – even if they are sold out elsewhere.
Plus, you can choose single-day ticket options through ViaGoGo. Single day tickets give you more flexibility. allow to you choose different stands on different days for some variety in your view, and are cheaper than the 3 day options.
I’ve bought F1 tickets through ViaGoGo a number of times over the last few seasons, including my recent trips to the British GP and Canadian GP, and have always had a great experience using their service.
T2 Grandstand Qatar seating plan
Below is the seating plan for the T2 Grandstand at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar.
As the seating plan above shows, the grandstand is split in to a number of different sections. Some of these sections are facing towards the exit of Turn 1 and the entry of Turn 2, others are facing at the Turn 2 apex, and some are facing the exit of Turn 2 towards Turn 3.
NOTE: Tickets for the T2 grandstand do not get you assigned seats. There is no reserved seat selection available in this stand, it’s open seating. That means you can try whatever seats you like in the grandstand. The circuit won’t sell more tickets than the number of seats, so there will always be somewhere to sit. But the earlier you get to the stand, the more choice you’ll have.
View
This image below shows, in green, the parts of the circuit you can see from the T2 grandstand:
The image above shows the circuit from T1 all the way to T3 in green, but how much you can see depends on which part of the stand you’re seated in and which direction you’re facing.
To help you get an idea of the view, below are some videos taken from different positions.
This first video was filmed from the section facing towards the entry of T2 / exit of T1:
And this video was also filmed from the section of the standing facing the entry of T2 / exit of T1:
Whereas this video was filmed from a different section facing towards the exit of Turn 2 / entry of Turn 3, in the top row. Also check out 2:02 in this video as you can see that when you turn around in the top row, you can actually see back towards Turn 1.
And finall this clip also shows the view towards Turn 3, taken from the front row of the T2 grandstand:
Best seats
As there’s no allocated seating, you can try out different seats in this grandstand when you get there to see which ones you prefer.
Personally I think the best seats in the T2 Grandstand at the Lusail Circuit are those in the top row of the sections looking towards Turn 3 because from there you can also turn round and see Turn 1.
Is this a good place to sit?
You’re unlikely to see much overtaking action here as at best you can see the cars once they’ve exited the first corner. All of the overtaking would happen on the way in to that corner, but there’s a building on the inside of the circuit which blocks your view of that.
If you sit facing towards Turn 3 you get a great sense of speed and cornering ability from the cars.
Overall it’s not a bad place to sit, but I’d prefer one of the two grandtands on the main straight for a better view of some overtaking in to Turn 1 or the pit lane action.
