Image credit Tyler Ravensak Jones grandstand location This grandstand is named after the Australian F1 driver and 1980 World Champion Alan Jones.It's on the outside (left-hand) side of the Albert Park circuit layout, next to the first corner. It starts in line with the track and then extends past the edge of the circuit. The Moss grandstand is directly adjacent to the right, and the big Brabham grandstand is opposite on the inside of the corner. One is to the left of the stand opposite, the other is to the right of it. Seats The seats are plastic chairs with fixed backs and folding bases, and are a lot more comfortable if you bring a small cushion to sit on. Cover The Jones grandstand is uncovered. It has no protection from the sun. Only the suites as the very top of the stand (VIP area) have a roof over them Jones grandstand seating map Below is the seating plan for the Jones grandstand at the Australian Grand Prix track. As the seating plan shows, the grandstand is split in to 6 sections. Section A is a long narrow section on its own, closest to the start / finish line. It only has 5 rows which start at A lowest down at the front and go up to E at the back. Sections B to F are larger sections with rows that go from A at the front to S at the back. There's no row I or O.Each section has seat numbers which increase from left to right (as you stand on the track and look up at the stand). Numbered seating starts from 1 at the beginning of each section.This is how wide each section is:Section A: 125 seatsSection B: 30 seatsSection C: 31 seatsSection D: 31 seatsSection E: 31 seatsSection F: 33 seats Jones grandstand view at the Aus GP circuit The map below shows the parts of the track visible from this stand highlighted in pink. As the map shows, your view will include the end of the start / finish straight, all of Turn 1 and most of Turn 2. You'll lose the cars out of sight when they go behind the Chicane Pavillion hospitality building (white roof) on the left side of the image above.There are a number of trees directly behind section A which is why it's only got a few rows. That means that if you sit high up in section B your view down towards the start line will be blocked by the trees.The video below was filmed from Section B, Row M, seat 4 and shows how little you can see of the Formula 1 cars as they approach Turn 1 thanks to those pesky trees.https://www.youtube.com/watch?vUtH4HPmKdnISo the further forwards you sit in sections B to F, the more you can see back down the start / finish straight.But if you sit near the front you'll be looking along the line of the safety fence which will be hard to see through, so really you'll never have much of a view of the main straight from this stand and won't be able to see the lights go out of the start of the race.This video was filmed from Section C row B, second row from the front.Sitting in section A gives you a little more visibility of the end of the straight. 2:13 in this next video was filmed from Section A row E seat 47.https://youtu.be/gtcSPFqyCNk?siuc7BKrI7jtIepRcu&t133The further left you sit in the stand, the earlier you'll lose the cars out of sight at Turn 2. This video was filmed from Section E.https://www.youtube.com/watch?vGHVLPXYTvjE Best seats Jones grandstand The best seats in the Jones grandstand are rows M - S in section C. This is directly in line with the apex of Turn 1, will give you a good line of sight to see the cars around Turn 2 for longer plus it's one section over from the trees behind section A.Sitting in the higher rows gives you a better vantage point where you can look over the top of the safety fence. If you want to be as close as possible to the action during the race then you'll want to get tickets for the front couple of rows in sections A, B or C. Any other sections will be after the track has turned away from the stand, so won't be as close. Australian GP tickets A good place to sit? There's always a lot of action at Turns 1 and 2 of the Australian Grand Prix. At the Formula 1 in 2023 there were numerous crashes here, and fans seated in this grandstand had one of the best seats in the house to witness the carnage and multiple red flags.But people sat in the Brabham grandstand, directly opposite, would have had a slighter better view. They would have been able to see the cars for longer as they apexed and exited Turn 2. That stand is usually the same price, so I'd try and grab seats there first of all.There's a number of food and drink vendors and amenities right behind this stand. Plus it's only a short walk over the bridge by the pit exit to get to the Main Stage and Fan Zone on the infield, where there's lots more entertainment options. If you're on a tight budget there are cheaper grandstands, like the Waite stand. If you want a better view of the start line, pit lane or podium then the Fangio grandstand is the best option. If you want a covered reserved seat then in this position then you'll have to pay a lot extra for a spot in the Jones Suites VIP area at the top of the stand. Or if you want to go all-out then the Paddock Club, above the pitlane, is the most premium hospitality experience at the whole event and often comes as a package with a posh hotel stay. Nearest entrance Entrance gate 1 at Albert Park is the closest and best gate to aim for when planning your travel to this grandstand at the Grand Prix.
