F1 CIRCUITS

I sat in the Becketts grandstand at last year's F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. This is my guide to spectating from this stand. It includes my tips on picking the best seats, videos of the view from a number of different seating positions, a full seating chart, ticket info and more. Contents Where is Becketts grandstand at Silverstone? Becketts grandstand is located on the outside (left-hand side) of the track at Becketts corner (turn 11) half way through the Maggots-Becketts-Chapel sequence. That's around 2/3rds of the way around a full lap of the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit layout.Becketts grandstand is to the right of Chapel grandstand as you look at the circuit, but positioned at 90 degrees to it. There is also the new Escapade Silverstone residency and hospitality complex to the right of this stand. If you are camping at Silverstone some of the nearest campsites with the shortest walk to Becketts are Whittlebury Park and the Ridings. Is Becketts a good place to sit at Silverstone? Becketts is a fantastic place to sit at Silverstone as every seat in the grandstand gives you a complete overview of the Maggots, Becketts and Chapel sequence of corners leading on to the Hangar Straight. Plus, as the lower sections on this page will show, you can also get a view of the infield if you sit in the right places. This left-right-left-right-left sequence of corners is almost entirely flat out in a F1 car where the drivers approach the first part of this sequence at over 180mph. Whilst this section of the track doesn’t always see the most overtaking, it is one of the best places on the track to observe the incredible downforce in action on the cars, even more so than Abbey or Copse Corner. Becketts Grandstand tickets Tickets for the Becketts Grandstand at the F1 often sell out pretty fast. If you're still looking for some, I'd recommend buying tickets through Viagogo or StubHub.Often they'll appear for sale cheaper than list price on thee platforms, and there's many single-day ticket options there too. Viagogo tickets StubHub tickets I've bought F1 tickets on Viagogo and Stub Hub numerous times during the last couple of seasons, including for th British GP this year and when I went to the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023. I've always had a great experience and will definitely be using them again. They also have a vey robust 'FanProtect guarantee' which ensures your tickets and money are always safe and well protected. Nearby Accommodation If you're going to Silverstone for the Grand Prix, booking accommodation as close to the track as possible is the best way to avoid the daily traffic and travel chaos getting in and out.To help you find a spot close to the circuit, the map below highlights all the accommodation options around Silverstone: Are there big TV screens at Becketts? There was one large TV screen visible from this grandstand at last year's F1. It's a big screen but it's on the other side of the circuit so it feels quite far away, and it can be difficult to read the timing or writing on the screen. So I would suggest bringing a camera with a good zoom or some binoculars. Is Becketts grandstand covered? The Becketts grandstand at Silverstone is covered. It has a roof over the top with a section at the front that drops down to provide additional protection for those seated towards the front of the stand. There are no covers on the side of the grandstand, so people seated at the ends could get a bit wet if it’s raining sideways but at the same time they will have a great view back up the track towards Maggots that isn’t obstructed. View from Becketts grandstand The image below shows the areas of the circuit visible from this stand highlighted in pink: That image shows the track around turns 10, 11 and 12 as bright pink. Every seat in the grandstand will have a perfect view of these parts of the track (Maggots, Becketts, Chapel). It also shows turns 2, 3, 4 and 5 in light pink as only the higher rows in the stand get a good view of these infield corners (Abbey, Village, The Loop, Aintree). The video I took below helps demonstrate this. It shows the views from Becketts taken from a number of different seats:Row R Seat 1 (furthest seat to the right) Row F Seat 1 (furthest seat to the right) Row O Seat 135 Row U Seat 234 (back row) Row L Seat 315https://youtu.be/ff54J2cNXXE?siBZB3spayWMxaguy5Becketts grandstand is quite high up. Even the front rows that are lowest down are pretty well elevated which helps give the seats here such a good view. But as the video shows, the lower down you sit in the stand, the less you can see of the infield corners as the barriers on the middle of the track can block your view. There is a lot of run-off area either side of the track through the Maggots and Becketts complex of corners, so the grandstand can feel quite a way from the circuit. You don’t feel like you’re right in amongst the passing cars, instead you feel like you have a viewpoint that gives you a wonderful overview of a huge chunk of track. Best seats Picking the best seats depends on what you want to see. Personally I'd try and pick rows in the middle to upper parts of the stand (Rows M to U) for a higher vantage point making it easier to see over the barriers in the middle of the track on to the infield. Then you need to choose your seats. The further right you sit in the stand (lower seat numbers) the better your view down the Hangar Straight towards Stowe. The further left you sit in the stand, the better your view becomes down the Wellington Straight towards Brooklands.Personally, I'd go for higher seat numbers to have a better view down Wellington towards Brooklands (Turn 6) where there's often some overtaking. But that is quite a way in the distance, so binoculars would be needed. Viagogo tickets StubHub tickets Becketts seating plan Enter your name and email below and the Silverstone Becketts grandstand seating plan will be sent to your inbox (the file is too large to host here!) One thing to note with this grandstand is that the track doesn’t run parallel to the stand. The circuit curves round in front of the seating and the further to the left of the grandstand you are (as you look at the track), the closer you will be to the circuit. The Becketts grandstand has rows which run from A (further forward / lowest) to U (furthest back / highest) and seat numbers which go from 1 (closest to Maggots) to 414 (closest to Chapel corner / nearest the track). There is no row I (eye).NOTE: Seat numbers 315 and up are reserved for Club Silverstone VIP ticket holders. How many seats are in Becketts Siverstone? There are roughly 6,700 seats in the Becketts grandstand at Silverstone. This is taking in to account the gaps between each of the different sections within the grandstand. Best entrance gate for Becketts grandstand The nearest entrance gate to Becketts grandstand is gate 9.
