Chicane 2 grandstand view Hungaroring F1

This is my guide to the Chicane 2 grandstand at the Hungaroring. This stand was previously called Bronze 3 but it was renamed in the last couple of years.

In this guide I’ll include some of my top tips for picking the best seats in this grandstand, and my thoughts on how it compares to other stands. There’s a full seating plan, plus videos of the views from different sectors and seats.

I’ve also included some information on how to get cheaper tickets for this grandstand.

Hungaroring Chicane 2 grandstand location

The Chicane 2 grandstand is on the left hand side of the circuit just as the F1 cars exit the medium speed right-hander of Turn 5. Of the three grandstands at this part of the Hungaroring track, it’s the closest to Turn 5. The adjacent Chicane 1 grandstand is closer to the chicane at Turns 6 and 7.

Entrance gate 2 is pretty much directly behind this grandstand, but the main parking areas are closer to Turn 14 so it’s a little bit of a walk to get here from there. The main Fanzone is also over by the last corner, but there’s still a lot of food and drinks vendors around this stand.

Entrance gate 2 is directly next to this stand and is the easiest one to use for access.

Cover

This grandstand has no cover, it’s completely exposed to the elements. Check out my tips on what to wear to the Hungarian GP.

Seats

The seats are individual plastic chairs.

TV screens

There is one TV screen visible from this stand. It’s on the other side of the track and slightly off to the left. But it’s close to the track, so easy to see.

Hungaroring Chicane 2 grandstand tickets

This is a popular place to sit during the F1 at Hungary so tickets will officially sell out fast. However if you still need some, I‘d recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo instead.

They always have a large selection of tickets avaialbe on their website right up until race day, even when they seem to be sold out everywhere else. And if you’re patient you might be able to find them at a cheaper price in the days leading up to the race. That’s what I’ve done before and I managed to grab myself some bargains.

I buyl my F1 tickets on ViaGoGo and have done for the last few seasons. I used them for tickets when I went to the Grand Prix at Silverstone, Spa and Zandvoort. My experience has always been great and I won’t hesitate to use them again.

Plus, for added peace of mind when I’ve purchased my tickets, they have a very good ‘FanProtect’ guarantee that made sure my tickets and money were always going to be safe and protected.

Hungaroring Chicane 2 grandstand seating plan

Below is the seating plan for the Chicane 2 grandstand at the Hungaroring:

As the seating plan shows the Chicane 2 grandstand at the Hungaroring is only made up of two sectors, A and B. Sector B is the closest to Turn 5 and Sector C is the closest to the Turn 6 chicane.

The row numbers start at 1 lowest down at the front and they increase all the way up to row 20 highest up at the back.

View

This image shows the parts of the track that you can see from this grandstand highlighted in green:

As it shows, your view will mainly be of the cars going around Turn 5 and entering the chicane at Turn 6. Depending how high you sit, you may also get a view over towards Turn 4. But there’s a lot of ‘stuff’ inside the track that can block your view across the circuit if you’re not high enough.

This first video was filmed from Sector A row 16 seat 4. Because it’s taken from quite a high row, we can see across the track to Turn 4 past the speakers and bits of scaffolding. We’re high enough to then follow the cars all the way around Turn 5 until they pass in front of us.

However, we lose them out of sight as we look to the left because the adjacent Chicane 1 grandstand blocks our view. To avoid that, if you’re in Sector A you need to go for a higher seat number:

This next video was filmed from Sector A row 3. Because we’re now much further forwards in the stand, when looking to the left we can look past the adjacent grandstand down towards the chicane. But being further forwards also means we’re lower, so don’t have such a clear view over towards Turn 4:

Whereas this next video was filmed from Sector B row 20 seat 25. Being high up we have a great view again across to Turn 4 and all the way around to Turn 5. But once again, because of the way the stand is situated, our view to the left is blocked by Sector A of the stand:

Best seats

As the videos show, the issue with this stand is having your view to the left blocked by adjacent stands.

Usually I would suggest to go for seats higher up, but that is where the problem lies. So this time I’d suggest going for seats in the front 5 rows to try and look past the next stand. That will compromise your view across the track over towards Turn 4, but I think it’s the best option.

Is this a good place to sit?

Personally I think this is the worst of the three grandstands around the chicane. Either Chicane 1 or Chicane 3 are better options, as they both have views uncompromised by adjacent stands, unlike this one.

If you do sit in this stand or any of the three stands here, you’re unlikely to see a huge amount of overtaking. However, the chicane often sees contact being made between cars. Plus, Turn 4 is where Perez had a big crash a few years ago, and Turn 5 is where Tsunoda hit the wall. It’s a tricky section of track so you might see one or two mistakes being made here.

There’s plenty of parking nearby, check out my F1 Hungary parking guide for more info.
