This is my guide to the Apex 2 grandstand at the Hungaroring. This stand used to be called Silver 6 but has been renamed recently.

This guide features my tips for picking the best seats, plus videos of the views from different positions in the stand so you know what to expect. It also includes a full seating plan showing the section, row and seat numbers. I’ve also added my tips on the best places to get tickets.

Hungaroring Apex 2 grandstand location

The Apex 2 grandstand is on the outside of the final corner, the long 180 degree right-hander of Turn 14, on the Hungaroring Formula 1 circuit. It’s on the left hand side of the track and is adjacent to the Apex 1 stand which is just to its left.

The image below shows where this grandstand sits amongst the others at this part of the track. This is the most highly condensed section of the F1 circuit for grandstands, so the atmosphere here surrounded by all the other fans and stands is great.

Entrance gate 6 is the best to use as it’s the closest to this grandstand.

Grandstand details

Cover

This stand has no roof, it’s completely open to the weather conditions, so make sure you dress appropriately!

Seats

The seats are individual plastic chairs.

TV screens

There’s a TV screen on the inside of Turn 14, on the other side of the track directly opposite this stand, that’s easily visible from  pretty much all seats. Those on the extreme right hand side of the stand, however, are at a bit more of an angle to the screen, as the second image below shows.

Hungaroring Apex 2 grandstand tickets

This is a popular place to sit at  the Hungarian Formula 1 race so tickets for this stand often sell out fast for the Grand Prix. If that’s the case but you still want to sit in this stand, I’d recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo.

There’s always a great selection of tickets available on their sit, even if they’re sold out elsewhere. And if you’re patient you can often find them at discounted prices in the few days and leading up to the race. That’s what I’ve done before and I managed to grab myself a bargain.

I’ve bought all my F1 tickets on ViaGoGo over the last few seasons, including when I attended the British, Dutch and Belgian Grand Prix. I’ve always had a great experience using their platform and would happily do so again next time.

Plus they have a very robust ‘FanProtect’ guarantee which gave me really good peace of mind that my tickets and money would be safe and protected.

Hungaroring Apex 2 grandstand seating plan

Below is the seating plan for the Apex 2 grandstand at the Hungaroring:

The seating plan shows the grandstand is made up of four sectors named A to D. Each sector has rows which are numbered 1 lowest down at the front and increase the further back / higher up you go. The back row is row 33.

View

The image below shows the partts of the track visible from the Apex 2 grandstand highlighted in green:

As the image shows, Apex 2 gives you a fantastic view of the final corner, Turn 14. You also have a glimpse of the straight before Turn 12, then an even better view of the short straight just after it.

You will lose the cars out of sight just as they leave Turn 14 and enter the start finish straight.

The video below will show the views from different position in the stand. Some of them are slightly older, filmed when it was named Silver 6, but the new stand is in the exact same location and the sector / row / seat numbering is the same. They’ve just changed the name to confuse us all!

This first video was filmed from Sector A row 30 in one of the furthest seats to the left. From here you can see you have a good view of the TV screen, a fantastic view of Turn 14 plus you can see the end of the start grid when the cars are lining up before the race. You also get a view of the straights before and after Turn 13, but there is now a bridge just after that corner which blocks your view a bit:

This next video was filmed from Sector B, somewhere around row 15. It’s a little further to the right and lower down compared to the previous video, meaning you can’t see as much of the main straight. Plus that bridge I mentioned before is now present, and it blocks your view of the T13 apex somewhat:

This next video was filmed from Sector C row 25, slightly further to the right:

And finally this video was filmed from Sector D around row 15. This is almost as far to the right as you can get, and from here you can see the TV screen is at a bit of an angle, plus you really can’t see anything past the exit of Turn 14. But you have a great view of the cars exiting Turn 13 and heading straight towards you and the pit entry:

Best seats

I would personally go for seats on the left hand side of the stand in sectors A or B to try and maximise my view of the F1 cars entering the start finish straight, the TV screen, and so I could see some of the back-end of the grid lining up before the race begins.

I’d go for a higher row just to try and get a nice wide vantage point.

Is this a good place to sit?

You won’t see much overtaking in to Turn 14 as it’s not a very easy place for the drivers to pass one another. So getting a seat that has a good view of the screen is key.

Personally, I would choose the adjacent Apex 1 grandstand over this one. For pretty much the same price, get a good seat in that stand and you’ll have a view almost all the way along the start / finish straight, great for seeing the start of the race. You definitely don’t get that view from Apex 2.
