Hungaroring T1 grandstand view Hungarian GP

This is my guide to the T1 grandstand at the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit, the Hungaroring.

It includes my tips on picking the best seats in this grandstand. Plus it includes a full seating chart, videos of the views from different seats, tickets and more information.

T1 Grandstand location

The T1 grandstand used to be called the Gold 4 grandstand. But in recent years it has been renamed to the T1 Grandstand.

The stand is is on the outside (left-hand side) of the circuit alongside the first corner, Turn 1, on the Hungaroring track. It’s at the end of the start / finish straight which is a DRS Zone, and one of the places where overtaking most often happens when the Formula 1 races here.

It’s adjacent to the smaller Pit Exit 1 grandstand, which is to its right.

A ticket for this grandstand will get you a reserved seat in this stand, as well as access to all of the general admission areas around the circuit, including the F1 fan zones.

T1 Grandstand details

Cover

This grandstand is not covered. It has no roof, so it’s completely exposed to the weather. Be prepared!

Seats

The seats are individual plastic chairs with fixed seat bases.

TV screens

There’s one large TV screen directly across the track opposite this stand, and a second one on the other side of the track but off to the right which is only really visible to those sat on the right hand end of the stand.

T1 Grandstand F1 tickets

Tickets for the T1 grandstand sell out fast on the official website, becaue it gives the best view of the first-corner action at the Hungarian GP.

So if you still want tickets, I’d recommend buying tickets through ViaGoGo where there’s always a great selection available right up until the race day, even when they’re sold out elsewhere. Sometimes you can also find them at lower prices, plus there are lots of single-day ticket options available.

I’ve bought most of my Formula 1 tickets through ViaGoGo over the last few seasons and only have positive feedback for them. They also have a FanProtect guarantee which is great for peace of mind as it ensures your tickets and money are safe.

T1 Grandstand seating plan

Below is the seating plan for the T1 grandstand at the Hungaroring:

As the seating plan shows, the grandstand is made up of 8 sections (or sectors) from A to K (there’s no section I). Section A is closest to Turn 1 and Section K is closest to the pit lane / start & finish line.

Rows are numbered from 1 lowest down at the front, up to 26 at the back.

Seat numbering is a little weird. The 8 sections are effectively in pairs (A and B, C and D, E and F etc) with a stairwell entrance in the middle of each pair (shown as the gap between the blue sections on the plan above). So the seat numbers increase from 1 when you walk outwards from the entrance in to a section.

T1Grandstand view

As this grandstand is on the outside of Turn 1, the majority of your view is of the cars braking, entering, apexing and exiting the first corner. As you look to the right, you can also see the pit lane exit and the second half of the start / finish straight.

The image below shows the areas of the circuit visible from this grandstand highlighted in green.

But being inside the circuit, the views are pretty limited. to your right you’ll see the cars exit Turn 17, and to your left you’ll see them as they approach Turn 18. After that you’ll lose them out of sight.

The image below shows the view of the track visible from this stand highlighted in green:

As mentioned earlier, this grandstand used to be called the Gold 4 grandstand. It’s only in the last couple of years the name has changed to T1. So some of these videos below will be from Gold 4, but the view will be the same.

This first video was filmed from Section A row 15, the furthest you can get to the left in the stand:

As the video shows, being this far left gives you a perfect view of the action at the first corner. You’re directly in line with the apex so have a front-row seat for any turn 1 incidents.

This next video was filmed from Section A row 18 seat 1, and shows the crash between Hamilton and Verstappen in 2024:

This next video was filmed from Sector C, Row 17, Seat 9. This is a little further to the right in the stand, but still has a good view of the first corner.

This next video was filmed from Sector F:

And finally this video was filmed from Section J, row 15 seat 13. This is the furthest section to the right, so as far away from Turn 1 as you can get in this stand:

Best seats in the T1 Grandstand

I would definitely try and get seats in a section as far to the left as possible. Aim for sections A, B or C in rows 15 and up to get the best possible view of Turn 1, and a nice high vantage point.

Is the T1 Grandstand a good place to sit?

The T1 grandstand is definitely one of the best places to sit at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Turn 1 is where most of the overtaking and action happens at the Hungaroring, so you’re in prime position to witness anything that happens here. Plus you can still look to your right to see a lot of the start / finish straight, the pitlane exit and even the end of the pit garages.

The only downside is that it’s not covered, but then there’s only one grandstand with a roof at the whole circuit (the main Hungaroring stand). So just come prepared for the weather and you’ll have a great time.
