Is there a dress code at the Italian Grand Prix?
Officially there’s no dress code for Formula 1 fans with either General Admission or grandstand tickets. If that’s you then you can wear what you like, but further down this page I’ve given you some tips on how to dress for the weather that you’re likely to experience at the Monza circuit for the Italian Grand Prix.
If you have VIP hospitality tickets for the Italian GP then you should follow a smart-casual dress code. More info and some examples of that below.
The main thing to remember is that you’re at the home of the Tifosi. So you’ll be surrounded by Ferrari fans everywhere you go.
What to wear - F1 general admission / grandstands
Dress for the weather
As there’s no dress code for fans with general admission or grandstand tickets then you can wear whatever you like to the Formula 1 at Monza. But you should consider dressing for the weather.
The race takes place at the Monza circuit. It’s always held at the end of summer, often around September time. And at that time of year it’s likely to be dry and hot. Last year it was 27 Celcius every day of the weekend, and not many of the grandstands have shade over them. The minimum temperature over all three days was still 17 Celcius.
So the most important things to consider when choosing what to wear to Monza are the items of clothing that you’ll be coolest in when spending all day in the heat.
Footwear
If you’re a general admission ticket holder, or even if you have grandstand seats, then you’ll be doing a lot of walking around the circuit.
Walking to and from the local train stations to the different entrance gates, then from the entrances to your viewing point will rack up tens of thousands of steps.
So wear something that will be comfortable to do a lot of walking in!
Italian GP tickets
Still need tickets to the Italian Grand Prix? If so, I’d recommend buying them on ViaGoGo where there are tickets available to buy right up until race day on the Sunday.

Here are some examples of outfits you could wear to the Italian Grand Prix as a grandstand or general admission ticket holder. You’ll see a lot of people in F1 team merch, mainly Ferrari stuff. You can buy it at the track but it’ll be incredibly expensive there. Buy it online before to save yourself some money:
Italian GP Hospitality & VIP dress code
If you’ve got tickets to Paddock Club or any of the other VIP Hospitality areas at the Italian Grand Prix then they ask you to follow a slightly more ‘smart-casual’ dress code.
So try to avoid ripped jeans, flip-flops, casual sandals and full sport tracksuits. If it’s hot you can still wear shorts or a dress, but just try and make it a little smarter than the usual stree twear. You can still wear F1 team merchandise in the VIP areas, and in fact that is encouraged.
