This is my spectacting guide to grandstand 16 Ascari at the Monza Italian Grand Prix circuit, which you might also see named Tribuna Ascari or Tribuna 16.

Monza Grandstand 16 Ascari location
Grandstand 16 Ascari is on the right hand side of the Monza circuit, the inside of the track, at the exit of the Ascari chicane. This chicane is also known as Variante Ascari.
This chicane is made up of three corners – Turn 8, Turn 9 and Turn 10. Grandstand 16 sits opposite the apex of Turn 10 on the other side of the track.
A short way to the left of this stand is Grandstand 14, and to its right across a pedestrian walkway is the covered Grandstand 18.
This grandstand a bit of a walk from any of the entrance gates. The nearest is probably gate B which is on the other side of the start straight. To get to this stand from there you have to use the footbridge over the circuit or take Tunnel 3 under the track. Allow at least 30 minutes to walk from that gate, perhaps even more on busy race day.
If you’re taking public transport the shuttles will drop off at Gate G. That’s a 30 minute walk away from this stand.
You’re close to main Formula 1 fanzone here which is on the outside of the track a short way after the Ascari chicane. To get there you can take Tunnel 5 under the track. It’s a 10 minute walk.

This grandstand uncovered. You’ll be in the heat and sunshine all day long so make sure you dress appropriately.
Seats
The seats are individual plastic chairs.
TV screens
There’s a single TV screen on the other side of the track that’s visible from all seats in this stand. But people sat on the right hand end of the stand (lower seat numbers) will find it slightly easier to see. The videos lower down this page will also show the TV screen.
Monza Grandstand 16 Tickets
This grandstand is very popular during Italian Grand Prix weekend, so tickets can sell out quickly. If so, I’d recommend you buy tickets through ViaGoGo where will be a good selection of tickets available to purchase up until the last minute. And you can often find them at lower prices there too.
I’ve used Viagogo for purchasing Formula 1 tickets numerous times over the last few seasons, including for my trips to the British, Belgian and Dutch GPs. Grandstand 16 has row A lowest down at the front and Row M highest up at the back. Seat numbers begin at 1 on the left hand side of the grandstand (if you were standing on the track and looking at the stand) and increase as you go to the right.

As the map shows, from this stand you have a great view looking at the F1 cars coming towards you through the left-right-left of the Ascari chicane. You can also see the end of the braking zone before Turn 8, where the very occasional overtake may happen.
You’re sat right at Turn 10, and sometimes cars run wide on the exit. If that happens it will be directly in front of you. Then as you look to the right you’ll see the cars accelerate at full throttle down towards Turn 11 which is the Parabolica. You won’t be able to see all the way down to that corner, however, as the trees and adjacent grandstand will block your view.

And finally this video was taken from the top row, Row M, and just left of centre in the grandstand, around seat 200. You can see that being further to the left in the is grandstand, like this video shows, gives you a better angle to see more of the braking zone for Turn 8 without compromising your view to the right:
Best seats
Personally I would try and get seats in the highest row possible. The higher rows give you a nice wide vantage point making it easier to see the cars at the other side of the chicane, plus you can partly look over the top of the safety fence. I would aim for the top three rows, so rows K, L and M.
Regarding seat numbers, sitting in the left hand half of the stand gives you the benefit of being able to see more of the braking zone before Turn 8. So I’d aim for that area which would be seat numbers 175 and up.
Is this a good place to sit?
This is a great place to sit for a view of the Ascari chicane. Ok, you’re unlikely to see much overtaking, but you get a great sense of speed and conering ability as the cars goes through the high-speed left-right-left.
This is one of the best grandstands for a view of Ascari. My only other suggestion would be that if you really wanted shade (which is a good idea) then go for the adjacent Grandstand 18 instead, which has a roof.
