This is my spectacting guide to grandstands 17A and 17B, called Ascari Esterna, at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza circuit. These are also referred to as Tribuna Ascari Esterna or Tribuna 17.

Monza Grandstand 17 Ascari Esterna location
Grandstand Ascari Esterna is split in to two seperate stands:
- Grandstand 17A – Ascari Esterna A
- Grandstand 17B – Ascari Esterna B
These are both new this year, so not a lot of information is available on them yet. However, I’ve put this guide together based upon everything else I know about the other stands at Monza to make my best-guess for these new grandstands.
They are both on the outside of the circuit just after the exit of the Ascari chicane, Turn 10. 17A is closest to Turn 10 and 17B is a little further along the straight. They’re opposite Grandstand 18.
These grandstand will be most easily accessed from entrance gate G, which will be around a 15 minute walk away. That’s also where the public shuttle buses drop people off.
A real bonus of these stands is that they are right next to the main Formula 1 fan zone, so you’re perfectly placed to check out all the entertainment that has to offer during the F1 weekend.

Cover
This grandstand will be uncovered, so you’ll be exposed to the hot Italian sun all day. Dress appropriately!
Seats
I believe this stand will have bleacher style bench seats.
TV screens
All the grandstands at Monza have a TV visible from them, so this will be no differnt. It’s likely the TV screen will be on the opposite side of the circuit between grandstand 16 and grandstand 18.
Monza Grandstand 17 Tickets
If you still need tickets to any of the grandstand as Monza for the Italian GP I’d recommend you buy tickets through ViaGoGo where there will be a good selection available to purchase right up until the last minute. And you can often find them at lower prices there too.
I’ve used Viagogo for Formula 1 tickets numerous times over the last few seasons, including for my trips to the British, Belgian and Las Vegas GPs. I’ve always had a great experience using them and have managed to find cheaper tickets on there by waiting until nearer the race itself. I’ll happily use them again.

Both 17A and 17B have rows which start at Row A lowest down at the front. The top row of 17A is Row I (‘eye’) and the top row of 17B is Row K.
Both stands have seat numbers that begin at 1 on the left hand side (if you are standing on the track and looking up at the grandstands) and increase as you go to the right.

The image below shows the areas of the circuit I predict you can see from Grandstands 17A and 17B highlighted in green:
Being on the outside of the track so close to the chicane, your view of Turns 8 and 9 is going to be very limited. That’s largely due to the trees that are next to this grandstand, as you can see in the image below. These will block your view of the first two parts of the chicane from both 17A and 17B.
Your view of Turn 10, the exit of the Ascari chicane, will be great. Even better in 17A as it’s closer to it. Then you’ll see the cars accelerate at full speed down towards Turn 11, but again as you look to your left you’ll only be able to see so far due to trees further down the straight.
Best seats
I’d always go for higher seats to get a better vantage point looking over the safety fence. So go for the top 5 rows in either stand to get that.
Is this a good place to sit?
As this grandstand will be used for the first time this year, at the moment it’s an unknown quantity and a bit of a risk. So instead I’d go for Grandstand 16 opposite which has a fantastic view of the whole Ascari chicane.
