This is my spectacting guide to the Laterale Sinistra grandstand at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. These is grandstand 4.
In this guide I’ve offered my tips to help you choose the best seats in this stand. There’s videos of the views from different seats, plus some advice on how to get tickets even when they seem to be sold out.

Monza Grandstand 4 Laterale Sinistra location
At the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Grandstand 4 Laterale Sinistra (also known as Tribuna 4) is on the left hand side of the start / finish straight a short way after the start line, on the long run down to the first corner.
To the right of this grandstand is the Centrale grandstand and to its left is the Piscina grandstand.
Directly in front of this stand are some of the Gradinate Traguardo uncovered bleachers. They are classed as a seperate stand.
Entrance gate B is the closest to this stand and is only a 5 minute walk away. But if you’re using public transport buses to get to the track they tend to drop off at Gate G instead which is over a 30 minutes walk.
The F1 fanzone is on completely the opposite side of the track. It’s on the outside of the circuit after Turn 10. To get there you need to cross beneath the track through some tunnels and that is likely to be a 20 – 30 minute walk.
One of the best things about the Italian Grand Prix is the post-race track invasion where tens of thousands of fans head under the podium. If you want to join them you’re well placed, as there’s usually some gates that open up pretty much directly in front of this grandstand to get on to the track.
A very short way behind the stand there’s numerous food and drinks vendors, plus toilets.
Grandstand details
Cover
Grandstand 4 at Monza is covered. It has a roof, it’s a high roof, but because the stand faces East you’re likely to be shaded from midday onwards. But it’ll still be very hot, so check out my Italian GP dress guide on some tips on what to wear.
Seats
This stand doesn’t have individual seats, instead it’s bleacher style seating. Sorry for the blurry image:
TV screens
There’s just one TV screen visible form here. It’s on the opposite side of the track off to the right of the stand. From the seats further to the left it’s a bit hard to see:
Monza Grandstand 4 Tickets
This is a popular grandstand at the Italian GP and tickets will often sell out. If that’s the case don’t worry as you can still buy your tickets through ViaGoGo instead where there should be a great selection of tickets still available right up until the race itself.
I’ve bought my Formula 1 tickets numerous times over the last few seasons using ViaGoGo and have always had a great experience doing so. That includes my visits to the British, Dutch and Belgian GPs. I’ll happily use them again for my next trip to an F1 race.
And for additional peace of mind they have a Fan Protect guarantee which will keep your tickets and money safe. That has always given me added confidence when using them.
Monza Grandstand 4 Seating Plan
Below is the seating chart for Grandstand 4 Laterale Sinistra at Monza. It’s a big image which is too large to host on this page, so instead if you enter your name and email address in the boxes below and press send it’ll be sent straight to your email inbox.
The rows start at A at the front lowest down and increase to M at the back highest up. Seat numbers start at 1 on the left side of the stand (if you’re standing on the track looking up at the stand) and increase as you go to the right. The furthest seat to the right is number 144.
View
The image below shows the areas of the track you can see from this stand highlighted in green:
From grandstand 4 your view mainly consists of the start line, the pit lane exit and the run towards the first corner. You cannot see the first corner or any of the pit lane or pit garages from here.
The other thing to watch for is that you’re not sat right behind the pillars that support the roof. These take up space in rows D and E, so try not to be next to them or in the few rows directly behind them. You can see their location as the blank spaces amongst the seats in the seating chart higher up the page.
This video was filmed from Row I seat 131, so quite far to the left in the stand. It shows that from here the TV screen is pretty hard to see. You can also see the pillars and how they’d be very obstructive if you were right behind them:
This next video was filmed from a much lower seat number, somewhere around Row K seat 50:
Best seats
There’s no benefit to going for the higher seat numbers as even when you’re as far to the left as possible you still can’t see down to Turn 1.
So the best seats in grandstand 4 at Monza are in the lowest possible seat numbers which put you closer to the TV screen, closer to the start line and closer to the pit lane exit.
I’d choose the higher rows for a wider vantage point and better, longer protection from the sun.
Is this a good place to sit?
I wouldn’t choose this as one of my top grandstands at Monza as it’s a bit in the middle of nowhere. You can’t see the pitlane, you can only just see the start line, you can’t see the podium and you can’t see the first corner.
Instead I’d choose one of the Laterale Destra grandstands before the start line for a better view of the pits, grid and podium. Those are also covered.
Or if you want a better view of the first corner then go for the Prima Variante grandstands instead.
