This is my spectacting guide to grandstands 6A, 6B and 6C called Alta Velocita at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

In this guide I’ve included my tips on picking the best seats, videos of the views from different seats, seating charts, info on tickets and more.

Monza Grandstand 6 Alta Velocita location

Grandstand 6 Alta Velocita (High Speed) at the Monza circuit is split in to three seperate grandstand – 6A, 6B and 6C. These are also known as the Tribuna Alta Velocita stands.

These grandstands are on the right-hand side of the circuit at the end of the main straight, and also next to Turns 1 and 2.

As the image below shows, 6A is parallel with the end of the start / finish straight where the cars are braking for Turn 1, and is opposite grandstand 7 Biassono. 6B is slightly angled away from the track, and 6C is even more angled towards Turn 1 and look over at the Prima Variante grandstand 8 across the circuit.

These grandstands are on the inside of the track so to access them you need to cross under one of the tunnels beneath the circuit. The easiest and best way to do that would be to use entrance gate B, then use the tunnel just next to these stands. From gate B to here is around a 10 – 15 minute walk.

The F1 fanzone is on the outside of the circuit near Turn 10. To get there from this stand it’s a 15 – 20 minute walk under another tunnel.

To join the infamous Monza post-race track invasion, previously there’s been a gate to the circuit near 6B that has been opened, meaning you get easy access.

There are lots of food and drink options and toilets close to this stand.

Grandstand details

Cover

All three of these grandstands are uncovered, so you’ll be in the Italian sun all day long. Make sure you dress appropriately for the hot weather.

Saying that, there is one particular part of grandstand 6B that’s does get some shade. Seats 75 – 105 in the top 3 or 4 rows (Rows L – O) will have some shade from the trees that are right behind this stand, as this 360 degree image shows:

6B faces West, so you’d get some shade up until mid / late afternoon when the sun would start to come round directly in front of you.

Seats

The seats in this stand bleacher style bench seats. The only ones that have a backrest are those in the back row where you can lean against the fence.

TV screens

There are two TV screens that are provided for these stands. There’s one just to the right of the Biassono grandstand that’s visible by people sat in 6A. There’s another that is further along the main straight that’s for people in 6C.

If you’re sat in 6B you’ll probably be able to see both of these, both it’s likely the one further along the circuit will be more visible.

Monza Grandstand 8 Tickets

These grandstands have great views of the first chicane at Monza where most of the action happens, so are very popular and can often sell out. If that’s the vase then don’t worry, you can buy tickets through ViaGoGo instead where there will be a good selection available right up until the Sunday of the Italian Grand Prix race weekend.

I’ve used Viagogo to buy my Formula 1 tickets a number times over the last few years. That includes when I went to the British, Belgian and Dutch Grand Prix. I’ve always had a great experience buying through them and will definitely do the same again next time I go to the F1.

They also have a very robust ‘FanProtect Guarantee’ which always gives me peace of mind they my tickets and money are protected.

Monza Grandstand 6 seating plan

Below are the seating plans for grandstand 6A, granstand 6B and grandstand 6C at Monza. The image files for these are really big, too big to host on this page in fact. So if you add your details in to the boxes below and hit send they’ll be sent straight to your inbox.

Grandstand Alta Velocita Monza seating chart thumbnail

In 6A, 6B and 6C the rows start at A lowest down at the front an increase to O (‘oh’) highest up at the back.

In all three stands seat numbers begin at 1 on the left side of the grandstand (as you stand on the circuit and look up at the seats) and increase as you move to the right.

View

This map shows the parts of the Monza circuit visible from these stands highlighted in green:

As that map shows, your view from these stands is predominantly of the braking zone for Turn 1, the Turn 1 and Turn 2 corners themselves and the exit of T2 as the cars head to T3.

Your view from each stand does different slightly, so to help demonstrate that below as some videos showing the views from each of the three Alta Velocita grandstands.

Grandstand 6A

Grandstand 6A has the best view of the braking zone at the end of the main straight out of these three stands. So if you want to see some late lunges on the brakes, this is the better stand to do it from. But your view of the Turn 1 / Turn 2 chicane is nowhere near as good. Plus, get the right seats, and you can see down to the start line.

This first view shows the view from Row A (front row) seat 5, so as far forwards as possible and very far to the right, close to 6B. The front row of 6A gives you the unique opportunity to lean forwards over the railings and look all the way down to the start line on the left. But you’ll lose sight of the cars once they apex Turn 1.

This was filmed from Row E seat 5, so again far to the right but a few rows higher up. And you can see that being even a few rows higher means you can see a little more of the cars at Turn 1 / Turn 2:

This next video below was filmed from grandstand 6A Row C seat 170, very far to the left, close to the left hand end. You can see that from here you get a view right down to the start / finish line. If you go for this end of the stand, any rows above Row F will mean your view of the start line is blocked by some trees to the left/

And this video shows the view from higher in the stand, Row L seat 10, so again far to the right:

Grandstand 6B

This video was filmed from Row E seat 40 in grandstand 6B Alta Velocita, and it shows that whilst you don’t have as much of a view of the F1 cars coming down the straight, you get more visibility of them going around the first chicane:

This video was filmed from higher up, Row L seat 50, and as you can see being higher gives you a better view of the first two corners:

And this one was filmed from the far left-end end of the stand, around seat 180, in row I (‘eye’). The video says 6A but it’s actually 6B:

And this 360 degree image shows the views from the back row, Row O, seat 130:

Grandstand 6C

Grandstand 6C is angled to look directly at the first chicane, where you’re most likely to see some wheel banging. This would have been the perfect place to watch the Hamilton and Verstappen crash in 2021.

This video was filmed from Row J seat 70:

This next video was filmed from Row G seat 60:

And finally this last video was filmed from the back row, Row O in grandstand 6c:

Best seats

Personally I’d want to prioritise the view of the first couple of corners. So I think the best seats in the Alta Velocita grandstands at Monza are seats in Grandstand 6C. Normally I’d go for the higher rows but in this stand it doesn’t make much difference as being higher just puts you a bit further from the track. So I’d aim for rows in the middle, around rows F – K.

If you want a better view back up the main straight then you should go for the higher seat numbers and lower row in Grandstand 6A. Aim from Rows A – D seats 160 and above.

Is this a good place to sit?

Grandstand 6C has the best view of any grandstand of the first chicane. This is where you’re most likely to see some accidents and overtakes, so it’s a great place to sit. But 6C is the most expensive of these these stands. A cheaper option would be to check out Grandstand 8 which is on the opposite side of the track.
