From Monza to Miami, Singapore to Silverstone and Marina Bay to Yas Marina, just how well do you know your Formula 1 circuits?
Time to put your knowledge to the test with this 2023 F1 circuit quiz.
The Formula 1 calendar is as busy as it’s ever been. In 2023 we saw a record breaking 23 different circuits on the season’s line-up (only 22 of which were used as the Emilia Romagna GP in Italy was cancelled).
The hottest talking point of the year was the inaugral Las Vegas Grand Prix, held on the streets of Sin City and backdropped by the incredible Sphere.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix joined Bahrain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as night races, taking the total to 5.
Next year is going to be an even bigger year for the sport, with 24 different tracks set to be raced on by the F1 boys as the Chinese Grand Prix makes a return to the schedule.
As a reminder before you get stuck in to the quiz, these were the circuits used during the 2023 F1 season:
- Bahrain International Circuit – Bahrain
- Jeddah Corniche Circuit – Saudi Arabia
- Albert Park Circuit – Australia
- Baku City Circuit – Azerbaijan
- Miami International Autodrome – Miami
- Circuit de Monaco – Monaco
- Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – Spain
- Circuit Gilles Villeneuve – Canada
- Red Bull Ring – Austria
- Silverstone – Great Britain
- Hungaroring – Hungary
- Spa Francorchamps – Belgium
- Zandvoort – Holland
- Monza – Italy
- Marina Bay Street Circuit – Singapore
- Suzuka – Japan
- Lusail International Circuit – Qatar
- Circuit of the Americas – USA
- Autodromo Mexico – Mexico
- Interlagos – Brazil
- Las Vegas Strip Circuit – USA
- Yas Marina – Abu Dhabi
The addition of Las Vegas to the lineup meant that there was a total of 8 street circuits used throughout the season.
Whilst these may not be the most exciting for the drivers, they bring the sport right to the heart of some of the biggest cities in the world and put it on the doorsteps of hundreds of thousands of fans.
But some of the oldest circuits on the calendar still provide the best racing. Classic purpose-built racing circuits such as Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps have huge amounts of heritage and are favourites for the drivers and fans alike.
With the sport’s increasing popularity in the USA thanks largely to the Netflix show Drive to Survive, 2023 was the first time we’d ever seen three races in the same country during one season.
But the Europeans still make up the largest fanbase for the sport, and there were 9 races in Europe this season.
With Max Verstappen being Dutch, the races at Zandvoort, Red Bull Ring and Spa Francorchamps all feel like home races to him, with seas of Dutch fans wearing the distinct orange colours.
