Lando Norris couldn’t resist adding his thoughts to Lewis Hamilton’s latest Instagram post, which marked the seven-time world champion’s highly anticipated first official day as a Ferrari driver.
Hamilton, who announced his switch to Ferrari back in February of last year, visited the team’s iconic headquarters in Maranello earlier this week. Today, both Ferrari and Hamilton shared an image on social media of the 40-year-old standing outside Enzo Ferrari’s historic white house, captioned simply, “new era.”
This has been one of the most highly-anticipated photos of the year. Hamilton’s move to Ferrari shocked many when it was announced, but he’s kept us waiting nearly 12 months to see him join the Maranello squad.
During his visit to Maranello, Hamilton shared his excitement about beginning this new chapter. In a statement released on Ferrari’s official website, he described the day as one he’ll “remember forever.”
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver, is one of those days,” Hamilton said. “I’ve been fortunate to achieve things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held onto that dream of racing in red. Today, I’m thrilled to realize that dream.”
He expressed gratitude to key Ferrari figures, including John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna, and team principal Fred Vasseur, for entrusting him with a role in the team’s future. Hamilton also spoke of his excitement to collaborate with Ferrari’s talented workforce and his determination to deliver results for the team and its passionate fanbase.
“I’m so excited to start this new era and to meet and work with a hugely talented and inspiring group of people,” he added. “Today, we begin a new chapter in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we’ll write together.

As Hamilton’s journey with Ferrari officially begins, fans, pundits, and even fellow drivers have reacted to Lewis’ first day with Ferrari, which shows the 7-time champion stood in a long black trench coat next to a Ferrari F40, his favourite supercar. Most of the reaction has been along the lines of “OMG IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING” and “Watching history in the making”.
But fellow F1 driver Lando Norris went for something a little different. He simply comment “Don”.
In Italian, “Don” translates to “boss,” a term often associated with figures of authority or style, and occasionally used in reference to Mafia bosses. While Norris was certainly not implying any nefarious connections, his comment was a nod to Hamilton’s striking appearance in the image, also making reference to Don Corleone from the Godfather. It also makes reference to his commanding stature within the sport. It was a fitting tribute to a driver who has defined an era of Formula 1.
The fans, pundits, and rest of the world are now watching closely. The partnership between one of the sport’s most successful drivers and its most legendary team promises to be one of the most intriguing storylines of the upcoming F1 season.
