Formula 1 race winner Lando Norris recently experienced a unique blend of fan interaction and classic car charm in the glamorous streets of Monaco.
The 24-year-old McLaren driver, fresh off his maiden F1 victory in Miami, took his prized Lamborghini Miura for a spin around Monte Carlo. However, what started as a leisurely drive quickly turned into an unforgettable encounter with his fans.
Norris owns a one-off classic Lamborghini Miura P400 purchased from Joe Macari, Italian supercar specialists. Miuras have often been referred to as the most beautiful cars of all time, and Lando’s is no exception.
His unique Miura has a dark blue paint job with custom orange interior and gold wheels. It’s an absolute stunner, and around the Monaco GP weekend he was seen cruising the streets in it. Why wouldn’t you.
Miuras are old cars now; they were produced from 1966 to 1973. What they have in beauty they lack somewhat in reliability, as Lando found out.
As Norris attempted to start the Miura after being parked in Monaco, he found himself facing an unexpected challenge—the car wouldn’t start. The incident quickly drew the attention of nearby fans. Recognizing the F1 star, a group of Formula 1 fans ran over to assist, watched over by the police who helped stop traffic.
With their combined effort, they managed to bump-start the Miura, rolling it down a hill to get the engine running. Lando recounted the event with amusement:
“It didn’t start,” Norris shared with reporters at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. “But then the fans recognized me and they pushed my car and bump-started it down the hill. It was mega.”

Norris’s first Formula 1 victory in Miami not only marked a significant milestone in his career but also heightened his public profile. He reckoned that more people had begun to recognize him since his win.
Reflecting on the Monaco incident, Norris joked about the perks of being an F1 winner. “Maybe if I didn’t win the race, they wouldn’t have noticed me, they wouldn’t have started it. So those are the perks in life. People can bump-start your car for you.”
Lando didn’t manage to score a podium finish at Monaco; the very dull race saw only 4 overtakes, and none of those took place in the top 10. So Lando finished in 4th, where he started, but his teammate Piastri managed to take a brilliant 2nd place.
As Norris continues to navigate his rising fame and the pressures of being a top F1 driver, he remains grounded and focused on his goals. His experience in Monaco, from the charm of driving a classic Lamborghini to the camaraderie with his fans, highlights the unique and often unpredictable journey of a Formula 1 star.
With his first win under his belt, a huge fanbase and his McLaren team seemingly on the up-and-up, Lando’s future is looking brighter than ever.
