Lando Norris took to Instagram to mock his teammate Oscar Piastri after an awkward interview during the F1 pre-season media day.
F1 drivers Instagram followers
F1 drivers have huge social media and Instagram followings, but it’s a front-row lockout for the Ferrari drivers.
Lewis Hamilton is the undisputed king of the grid when it comes to follower count, with over 39 million followers.

The driver with the second highest following is Charles Leclerc, currently sitting at 17.6 million followers. Lewis has over twenty million more followers than Leclerc in second!
Lando Norris is making his way up the order and is currently sitting in fifth place behind Verstappen in third with 13.6 million and Sainz in fourth with 11 million followers. Lando has 9.6 million followers but is closing in on Sainz.
At the start of the year he also changed his Instagram name from landonorris to just lando. Short and sweet.

F1 2025 media day
3 days of pre-season testing kicked off the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Bahrain International Circuit on the 26th to 28th February.
This was the first chance for each of the teams to put their 2025 cars through their paces and try different setups, components, tyre compounds, fuel loads and run plan.
Prior to the first day of testing, McLaren and the other teams arrived in Bahrain a few days early. As well as getting set up for the test, this also allowed the drivers to take part in the first media day of the season.

For Formula 1 drivers, media duties are just as big a part of the sport as driving the cars. Infact on any given race weekend it’s likely they’ll spend more time talking to the press than they will behind the wheel.
It’s a well known fact that most drivers don’t enjoy this part of their jobs. They’d rather drive their cars and be left to their own devices, rather than being thrust in the media pen after every session and forced to pass comment on whatever did – or didn’t – happen on track.
Max Verstappen in particular has made he feelings towards his media duties well known recently. In 2024 he refused to conduct any formal press conferences after being punished for swearing, and instead held his own informal media meetings where and when he chose.
Lando's Instagram post
At the media day at Bahrain before the 2025 pre-season testing began the McLaren teammates of Norris and Piastri had their time in front of the cameras.
Piastri is only starting his third season in F1 and doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who enjoys the limelight. So when it was his turn to be interviewed with teammate Norris watching on, Lando took to Instagram to let the world know just how much Oscar loves this part of his job.

He posted a video on his story of Oscar looking slightly nervous and awkward as he prepared to give an interview to camera.
Lando’s sarcastic caption was “Oscarinho* loves media days so much” which summed up his Australian teammates’ dislike for the media duties that come with being an F1 driver.
*Oscarinho normally means young Oscar. Lando is evidently playing on his younger teammate’s slight inexperience in interviews.

Just to make it even clearer to the world that Oscar wasn’t enjoying himself, the music he chose for the video was Time of Our Lives by Pitbull and Ne-Yo.
The lyrics “Give me the time of my life” pretty much sums it up.
