If you are making the pilgrimage to the ‘Ring in your EV, you will need to know where to get some juice. In this article we list all of the public and private (hotel based) Nurburgring charging stations in and around the circuit and surrounding areas, including the 4x Tesla Superchargers nearby.

Electric cars on the Nurburgring

The ‘Ring has been the home of the Petrolhead for a number of decades, but now it is slowly becoming the home of the Batteryhead too. Tesla, Porsche and other manufacturers have proven their EVs are incredibly capable at lapping the circuit with some seriously fast lap times

Taking your Tesla or other EV around the Nordschleife is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. As ever, once you’ve checked the opening times and looked at how big the queues are on the webcams, you can just turn up, buy a lap ticket and head out. The instant torque from an electric car will stand it in good stead on some of the steep inclines across the lap.

As a sign of the changing times, some of the Nurburgring taxi companies now offer laps in electric cars too. One in particular gives hotlaps in an Audi RS etron GT – worth checking out for a very fast but very quiet passenger lap.

Public Nurburgring charging stations

Unfortunately, none of the Nurburgring touristenfahrten car parks have charging stations. So, below is a list of the public charging stations nearest to the Nurburgring. This list just looks at the Nurburg and Adenau areas; these are the ones closest to the track that can give you a quick top up if you are in dire need.

The list below is sorted by closest to the Nordschleife entrance first.

Innogy charging station – Nurburgring Boulevard

  • Number of charging stations – 2
  • Charging capacity – 22kw/h
  • Connection – Type 2 socket
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 1.5 miles / 5 minutes
Innogy Nurburgring charging station on the B258 Ring Boulevard

Two Innogy charging stations publicly available in one of the Ring Werk outdoor car parks. These are directly off one of the two main roundabouts on the B258 ‘Nurburgring Boulveard’, opposite the main entrance to the Ring Werk building. These have lower power output than either of the below Tesla charging stations.

There are a lot of the Nurburgring attractions within just a couple of minutes walk from here. The Ring Boulevard, Ring Werk museum, eSports lounge and more can all keep you occupied whilst you wait for some charge. You can even go and look at the abandoned Ring Racer roller coaster.

Tesla Charger - outside the Dorint Hotel

  • Number of charging stations – 2
  • Charging capacity – 150kw/h (drops to 75 kw/h if both in use)
  • Connection – Type 2 plug
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 1.5 miles / 5 minutes
Tesla charging stations outside the Dorint hotel in Nurburg

These two Tesla chargers are not superchargers, they are lower power output which will drop if they are both in use. A little trickier to find – you have to enter the Dorint hotel and then bare left towards the big grey Ring Werk building and the Ring Racer roller coaster. Just as it looks like you’re reaching a dead end, they will be on your right, at the bottom of some steps.

They’re not listed on Google maps so check out the interactive red plug pin on the Google My Maps image above, which you can get directions to if you click.

Tiefgarage - Nurburgring Boulevard

  • Number of charging stations – 2
  • Charging capacity – 11kw/h
  • Connection – Type 2 socket
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 1.6 miles / 5 minutes
Nurburgring tiefgarage and Ring Werk building

This charging station is within the Tiefgarage (underground garage) – the main public car park for the Ring Werk building. You will have to pay for parking whilst using this slower charger.

The Tiefgarage isn’t on Google Maps but the Ring Taxi location on the map above is in the same spot. Enter the car park through the Einfahrt (Entrance) that can be seen on the left hand side of the image above.

Tesla Supercharger - outside the Lindner Motorsport Hotel

  • Number of charging stations – 4
  • Charging capacity – 250kw/h
  • Connection – Only Combined Charging System (CCS) compatible
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 1.8 miles / 6 minutes
4 tesla supercharger stations at the Nurburgring

These Nuburgring supercharger stations were installed at the end of 2020 just in time for Tesla to go and set the electric car lap record with the production Model S Plaid in 2021. These four supercharging stations are outside the front of the Lindner Motorsport Hotel (NOT the Lindner congress hotel, that is across the road).

They are publicly accessible just off the roundabout and are right next to the Bitburger gasthaus and the Nurburgring eSports bar. So you can grab something to eat or drink or practice your lines on the simulator whilst you charge.

Alternatively cross the road and have a look at around the Nurbugring Boulevard and the Ring Werk museum.

Innogy charging station Kirchstraße 19 – Adenau

  • Number of charging stations – 4
  • Charging capacity – 22kw/h
  • Connection – Type 2 Socket
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 5 miles / 11 minutes

One of two publicly available charging stations in Adenau, a little further away from the ‘Ring entrance. Located in the small carpark between the two churches.

Could be useful if you are planning on spending the evening in Adenau for dinner as there are countless restaurants and bars all within walking distance.

Innogy charging station Hauptstraße 43 – Adenau

  • Number of charging stations – 4
  • Charging capacity – 22kw/h
  • Connection – Type 2 Socket
  • Distance from Nurburgring Nordschleife main entrance: 5.1 miles / 11 minutes

The second publicly available charging station within Adenau. Located in the small carpark next to Volksbank. Again lots of eateries are nearby.

Not on Google Maps but the red plug pin on the Google My Maps above will take you there.

Nurburgring hotels with charging stations

The list below shows the hotels around the Nurburgring which are known to have charging stations for use by guests. If you know of another hotel then please get in touch and we’ll update this.

As ever, it’s worth checking with the hotel before booking that what is shown below is up-to-date. Also, check that the chargers are going to be functional when you plan on staying.
