The 2024 Bahrain GP takes place from Thursday 29th February to Saturday 2nd March at Bahrain International Circuit.

It’s one of only 3 races this season where the Grand Prix is held on a Saturday. 

2024 Bahrain Grand Prix dates

The 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix weekend starts on Thursday the 29th February and finishes on Saturday the 2nd March.

The Bahrain GP takes place at Bahrain International Circuit and is the opening race of the season.

Saturday Race

The Grand Prix will be held on Saturday evening rather than the more usual Sunday. That’s been done to allow time for the beginning of Ramadan after the next event in the calendar, Bahrain.

Bahrain Grand Prix race weekend format

The 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix will be a traditional Formula 1 weekend format of 3 practice sessions, qualifying and the race. It will not include a sprint race.

Below is the format and duration of the different F1 sessions during the Bahrain GP weekend:

Thursday 29th February:

  • Free Practice 1 (60 mins)
  • Free Practice 2 (60 mins)

Friday 1st March:

  • Free Practice 3 (60 mins)
  • Qualifying – Q1 / Q2 / Q3 (60 mins)

Saturday 2nd March:

  • Grand Prix (57 laps or 120 mins)

2024 Bahrain F1 qualifying time

Qualifying for the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix will take place on Friday 1st March at 19:00 (7pm) local time and will last a total of 60 minutes.

Qualifying will be split in to three separate sessions – Q1, Q2 and Q3.

All 20 drivers will take part in Q1. Of those, only the fastest 15 will progress to Q2. Then only the top 10 fastest drivers from Q2 will then move on to the final 10 minute shootout in Q3.

2024 Bahrain GP start time

The 2024 Bahrain GP will start at 18:00 (6pm) local time on Saturday 2nd March.

The Grand Prix will last for either 57 laps or 120 minutes, whichever is shorter.

What channel is the Bahrain GP on?

UK fans will be able to watch footage of the Bahrain Grand Prix live on the Sky Sports F1 channel. You need a paid subscription to do this. Pre-race build up usually starts about 60 minutes prior to the start of the Grand Prix.

Highlights of the race will be available for free on Channel 4  in the evening on Saturday 2nd March.
