Here’s your full F1 Silverstone schedule for the 2023 British Grand Prix. The timetable below includes different time zones for the GP start time for people tuning in from other countries.

It also details the full schedule of all F1 and support series events across the weekend so you can keep up with the on-track activities if you’re attending in person. Plus gate opening times for spectators.

The 2023 British Grand Prix takes place from Friday 7th July to Sunday 9th July. The event doesn’t feature a sprint race, instead it’s the more traditional format with three practice sessions, one qualifying session and the race.

British Grand Prix race weekend format

The British Grand Prix race weekend doesn’t feature a sprint race. Instead it’s the more traditional format which consists of the following:

Friday

  • First practice session (60 mins)
  • Second practice session (60 mins)

Saturday

  • Third practice session (60 mins)
  • Qualifying – Q1 / Q2  / Q3 (60 mins)

Sunday

  • Race (52 laps or 120 mins)

2023 British GP start time

The 2023 British Grand Prix starts at 15:00 (3pm) UK time (British Summer Time). It will last for 52 laps or 120 minutes, whichever is the shorter of the two.

What time is the Silverstone F1 race on TV?

The Silverstone F1 race will start at 15:00 local time and will last for either 52 laps or 2 hours.

What channel is the British GP on?

UK viewers will be able to view live coverage of the British Grand Prix practice sessions, qualifying and race for free on Channel 4 in 2023. It’s the only round of the season where the race will be available live and free to UK viewers on C4 thanks to a deal with Sky.

Live coverage of all sessions will also be available on Sky Sports F1 for viewers with a paid subscription to that channel.  

Coverage and pre-race build up usually begins around 60 to 90 minutes before the British GP start time.

Gate opening times

If you’re lucky enough to be attending the British Grand Prix in person it’s important to know what time to arrive.

Silverstone usually confirms the exact spectator gate opening times a few days before the event via their social feeds and email. But for reference, below are the 2022 times.

2022 F1 Silverstone spectator gate opening times:

  • Friday – 7:30am
  • Saturday – 7:30am
  • Sunday – 6:30am 

Don’t forget that Fast Track ticket holders can enter through specific gates 30 minutes before regular general admission ticket holders.
