The COTA Turn 13 grandstand is the only shaded grandstand at the Circuit of the Americas. It’s also the newest grandstand to be available to fans at the US Grand Prix.

This article provides a guide to spectating at Turn 13, including examples of the view from the grandstand, the seating chart, nearby facilities and more.

Where is the Turn 13 grandstand at COTA?

The COTA Turn 13 grandstand was new for 2024, and it will again be available for fans to buy tickets in this stand for the 2025 F1 race in Austin.

It’s on the inside of the circuit (left-hand side) between turns 13 and 14.

It’s a small grandstand adjacent to the Turn 13 Suites which are 2-floor VIP hospitality suites. The grandstand is actually slightly closer to the apex of T14 than it is T13.

It’s also right next to the pedestrian bridge that leads to the Grand Plaza – the Blue Bridge – and goes over the circuit at T16.

COTA Turn 13 grandstand Tickets

As turn 13 is the only shaded grandstand it’s a very popular place to sit at the US Grand Prix at COTA, so tickets will be likely to sell out fast.

So I’d recommend buying tickets on StubHub instead, where there’s always a massive number of US GP tickets once they go on sale. Plus there are more single-day ticket options, and you can sometimes find them at below-list price there too.

I’ve used StubHub for F1 tickets a few times in the last couple of years, including when I went to the GP in Vegas last year, and have always had a great experience with them.

Their FanProtect guarantee is also very robust and will protect your money / tickets.

COTA Turn 13 grandstand view

As the image above shows, from this stand you have a great view of turns 13 and 14.

Most overtaking happens at turn 12, and whilst you won’t be able to see the apex of that corner you will be able to see the cars exiting it. For a better view of there you need a seat in the Turn 12 Grandstand.

Fans sat in this grandstand at the 2024 US Grand Prix could just about see Max Verstappen and Lando Norris clashing on the exit of T12 and running wide.

From there on you can see down towards the final left kink before T15, but you can’t quite see the apex of that corner. You will be able to see the cars run along the straight towards T16 and they’ll dissapear just as you lose them to the left of the stand.

Reddit user sea_maximum3640 posted the video below from Row 1 of the Turn 13 grandstand in 2024.

Cover

The Turn 13 grandstand at COTA is covered. The roof doesn’t cover all rows of the stand but as the stand is North facing, the sun is behind it for much of the day. So all rows will be in shade most of the time.

TV Screen

In 2024 there were no TV screens visible from this stand, which is its biggest downfall. Hopefully this will be rectified for this year but it may not be.

Amenities

The grandstand is directly next to Lonestar Land where there’s numerous food and drinks vendors, water stations, merchandise stalls and a fully stocked bar.

There are 5 sections in the Turn 13 grandstand. Rows start at 1 lowest down in the stand, and go up to 15 at the back with the highest vantage point.

Is Turn 13 at Circuit of the Americas a good place to sit?

If you’re worried about spending all day in the Texas sun then this is definitely the best place to sit as it’s covered. And you probably should be worried – in recent years some people have suffered from serious heat exhaustion.

Most of the action on this particular section of track happens at Turns 12 and 15, neither of which you have a perfect view of from here. But the higher the row number the better your view, so try and get as close to row 15 as possible.

And last year there was no TV screen, so you needed to tune in to a sports radio station or the F1 TV feed to try and keep up with the action, but phone signal could be patchy.
