This is my spectating guide and review for grandstand 9 at the Mexican Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Grandstand 9 Mexico GP location
Grandstand 9, also called Grada 9, is on the inside of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit (right hand side). It sits alongside the short straight between turns 6 and 7, and is angled slightly towards the track so you are looking back towards Turn 6.
It’s directly opposite Grandstand 12, and has its back to Grandstand 8.
The grandstsand will overlook Turn 6 and a bit of turns 5 and 4. See further down this page for examples of the view from here.
You can access this grandstand by entrance gate 9 or 12. If you’re using public transport to get to the race, gate 9 is the easiest because it’s right next to the Puebla Metro station.
From gate 9 it’s around a 25 minute walk to this grandstand, and you have to cross over the track using the pedestrian bridge that goes over the straight just before Turn 4.
Zone
The circuit is split in to different zones for the Mexican Grand Prix. Normally you can only access the zone which you’re granstand is in.
Grandstand 9 is in Zona Rosa (Pink Zone). However, if you have tickets for this grandstand you can also access the Blue Zone. That’s great because the Blue Zone is the biggest and best zone, with a full F1 fan zone, lots of entertainment, and loads of food and drinks vendors.
I’ve written a full guide to the different zones at the Mexican GP. Check that out for more info.
Grandstand details
Cover
Grandstand 9 at the Mexican Grand Prix is uncovered. You’ll be exposed to the hot Mexican sunshine all day long, so bring sun protection.
Seats
The seats are little plastic pads, like this:
TV screens
There’s one TV screen that you can see from this stand. It’s on the other side of the track directly opposite the stand, which is nice and close.
Mexico GP Grandstand 9 tickets
Tickets for the grandstands at the Mexican Grand Prix often sell out fast, but you can still buy tickets through ViaGoGo even when they are sold out elsewhere.
Plus ViaGoGo has lots of one-day ticket options which are a lot cheaper and give you added flexibility. If you wanted to, you could pick different stands for different days by buying single day tickets.
I have bought most of my F1 tickets through ViaGoGo over the last few seasons and it has always been a great experience. I bought tickets to the Canadian and British Grand Prix through them and managed to get them for less than the official prices.
They also have their FanProtect Guarantee which protects your tickets and your money, which is good for extra peace of mind!
Mexico Grandstand 9 seating plan
Below is the seating plan for Grandstand 9 at the Mexican Grand Prix:
As the seating chart shows the grandstand is made up three sections numbered 101 to 103. Section 101 is the closest to Turn 7.
Each section has Row 1 lowest down at the front and Row 23 highest up at the back.
Seat numbers begin at 1 in each section, and increase as you go to the right (if you’re on the track, looking up at the stand).
View
In this image the areas of the track you can see from this stand are highlighted in green:
The view from Grandstand 9 at the Mexican Grand Prix is mainly of Turn 6, and you can also see a little bit of Turns 4 and 5 depending on where you sit in the stand. Because of the way the grandstand is angled, you can’t see anything of Turn 7 or after.
The video below shows the view from this grandstand, taken from Section 102 Row 14:

As you can see from the video above, you have a perfect view looking down towards Turn 6. But to the left, you’d only really be able to see turn 4 and 5 full if you’re sat on the extreme edge of the stand. You’d need to be in the highest seat numbers in section 103 to do that.
If you wanted to see the cars heading towards Turn 7 then you’d need to be in seats 1 or 2 in section 101.
Best seats
I’d want to try and see as much of Turns 4 and 5 as possible, so I’d get the highest seats numbers I could in Section 103. If possible I’d also go for a higher row (15 and up) to try and get a nice high vantage point.
Is this a good place to sit?
Stands 7, 10, 11 and 12 all offer better views of turns 4, 5 and 6 than Grandstand 9, so I would try and get tickets in one of those instead. They might be a little more expensive but they’d be worth it.
Check out my guides to those stands below for more info.
