There are 9 different entrance gates at the Monaco Grand Prix, and which one you should aim for depends on which grandstand, general admission or hospitality tickets you have.
These are all well signposted around Monte Carlo and rather than being actual gates, some of them are going to be checkpoints manned by F1 officials who are just there to check your tickets. You can easily walk between the different gates in a matter of minutes.

Here’s which grandstand / general admission area each entrance is best for:
- Entrance 1: Secteur Rocher General Admission area
- Entrance 2: Grandstand N, Grandstand O, Grandstand P, Grandstand V
- Entrance 3: Grandstand T
- Entrance 4: Grandstand X1, Grandstand X2
- Entrance 5: Grandstand L
- Entrance 6: Not used for grandstands
- Entrance 7: Best for Grandstands K4 – K6
- Entrance 8: Best for Grandstand A (A1), Grandstand K1 – K3, General Admission Area Z (Z1)
- Entrance 9: Best for Grandstand B
If you have Monaco VIP / hospitality tickets then these are the entrance gates you need to use:
- VIP Loges – entrance 3
- Paddock Club – entrance 2 (there’s a shuttle boat that takes you from the Paddock Club to the yacht)
- Belvedere – entrance 7
Entrance gate opening times
There are no official opening and closing times for the entrances to the Monaco GP track as it’s a public road and public area outside of the motorsport hours. After the racing is done and it turns back in to a public road, for example, people will be driving and walking on the ‘circuit’.
However, a good reference time is when the circuit is closed as a public road and becomes a race track. These times are as follows during the Monaco F1 weekend:
- Thursday: 7am – 7:30pm
- Friday: 7:30am – 9:00pm
- Saturday: 6:30am – 7:30pm
- Sunday: 5:00am – 8:30pm
For the general admission areas it’s likely people will be arriving before those ‘opening’ times listed above to get a good spot.
Monaco Grand Prix tickets
If you still need tickets to the Monaco GP I’d recommend buying them on ViaGoGo where they will have tickets available for sale right up until the Sunday of the Grand Prix.
I’ve used ViaGoGo a number of times for Formula One tickets and have always had a great experience with them. I bagged my tickets for the Vegas GP through them and managed to get them the day prior to the event for less than the official price.
They also have a robust FanProtect guarantee which makes sure your tickets and money are safe and secure which is good for peace of mind!
