Grandstand location at the Monaco Grand Prix
Monaco Grandstand A, previously known as Grandstand A1 or Tribune A1, is on the inside (right-hand side) of the first corner on the Monte Carlo Grand Prix track.
It’s a small stand directly inside the apex of Sainte Devote corner, Turn 1. It also has the pitlane exit pass directly in front of it.
Buy Grandstand A Monaco tickets
This is a fairly small stand but because of its location at Turn 1 where there’s most likely to be some action on the first lap, it’s one of the most popular grandstands. So booking a reserved seat in this stand can be hard as they often sell out fast for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Monte Carlo F1 race weekend.
If they’re sold out but you’d still like to sit here then I’d recommend buying tickets on ViaGoGo instead, where there’s often seats available up until race day, even if they are sold out elsewhere.
I’ve used Viagogo to book Formula 1 Grand Prix tickets numerous times and have always had a great experience purchasing through them. Plus they guarantee your money and tickets are safe – good for added peace of mind!
I’ll use them again to buy more F1 tickets next time I need some, especially as the last time I used them I got my tickets for the Vegas GP cheaper than the official price.
Grandstand details
Seats
The seats are all shared plastic bleacher style benches with no back rest. You’ll have ‘reserved seats’, but that will just be a reserved space on the bench but there won’t be a huge amount of space between you and the person you’re sat next to.

Cover
There’s no cover over the stand, it’s fully open to the elements. The stand faces North-West so the sun should be behind you for most of the day, but you still need to dress appropriately for the weather. Read my Monaco GP dress code tips for more info.
TV screens
There is a TV screen visible from this stands. It’s on the other side of the circuit just to the left of the escape road on the outside of Turn 1. It’s easily visible to all seats in the stand.

Amenities
There are toilets available close behind this stand, and the nearest food and drink stalls will be next to grandstand K which is directly behind.
There are also a couple of cafes right next to the Zone Z general admission area just behind this stand.
Seating plan
Below is the seating plan for Grandstand A / Grandstand A1 at the Monaco Grand Prix.
It has rows of grandstand seats that go from from A lowest down at the front to M highest up at the back.
The seat numbers increase from 1 (on the right hand side of the stand if you were stood on the track looking up at the seats) to 40 on the left hand side.
Views
The image below shows the views of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit visible from grandstand A (A1) highlighted in pink.
The green highlighted section of track is only visible to those sat in the top rows who can turn around and look over the back of the stand. Read more on that below.
Looking at Turn 1 Sainte Devote, the cars will appear in to view just as they turn in to the corner and they’ll disappear shortly after they’ve hit the apex and accelerate up the hill. So you only see them for a short time, but this is where it’s most likely there will be an incident on the first lap of the race as 20 cars all try and make it through the incredibly narrow corner.
The video below shows the view from Row G seat 33.
The next video filmed at the Monaco Historic shows the view from Row B (second row) seat 37.
The best views are definitely in the back row(s). Because the grandstand isn’t completely square, there are a couple of different ‘back’ rows, shown in the pink boxes in the image below, where you can turn around and see over the back of the stand to Tabac corner at Turn 12.
In fact you can see the cars leaving the previous chicane after the tunnel and running all the way down to Turn 12.
The video below show this. It was taken from Row M (the actual back row) seat 30.
Best seats
Undoubtedly the best seats to select are in those two back rows, specifically Row M seats 23 – 31 or Row J seats 32 – 38 are the best places to sit in grandstand A at the Monaco GP.
These seats allow you turn around and see the cars at Turn 12.
The lower seat numbers are blocked by the bigger grandstand behind this one.
This grandstand is best accessed using entrance gate 8. For info on how best to get to Monaco for the F1 read my guide to travel and tranport for the Monaco GP weekend.
