Grandstand location at the Monaco Grand Prix

Grandstand X1, also known as Tribune X1, is on the outside (left-hand side) of the start / finish straight on the Circuit de Monaco Formula 1 race, the most prestigious event on the F1 calendar.

It’s a small stand directly adjacent to the slightly larger X2 grandstand and is between the exit of the final corner Turn 19 Antony Noghes and the start / finish line.

Buy Grandstand X1 Monaco tickets

This is a really small stand that only has around 100 seats in it. It’s also the cheapest stand at the circuit, but those two things combined mean tickets often sell out fast for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Monaco F1 race weekend.

If that’s the case then I’d recommend having a look at buying tickets on ViaGoGo instead, where there’s often tickets available right up until the start of the weekend, even if they’re sold out elsewhere.

I’ve used Viagogo to book Formula 1 Grand Prix tickets a number of times and always had a great experience with them. Plus they have a guarantee which means your money and tickets will always be protected, which gave me added peace of mind.

I won’t hesitate to use them again for more F1 tickets next time I need some, especially as last time I got my tickets for the Vegas GP even cheaper than the official price though their platform.

Grandstand details

Seats

The seats are all shared plastic benches with no back rest. You’ll have reserved seats, but that will just be reserved space for you on th bench. There’s not a huge amount of room between you and the person next to you.

Cover

There’s no cover over the stand, it’s completely open to the elements. It’s east-facing so the sun will gradually move around behind you as the day progresses.

There’s also a large building right behind the stand which will offer a little shade towards the end of the day.

Wear appropriate clothing. See my Monaco GP dress code guide for more info.

TV screens

Unfortunately there is no TV screen visible from grandstand X1 at the Monaco F1 race, which is one of its biggest downsides and part of the reason why it’s so cheap.

You’ll have to try and get F1 TV or Canal+ on your phone if you want to keep up with the Grand Prix action.

Amenities

There are toilets available a short way behind this stand, and the nearest food and drink stalls will be next to grandstand V which is by the last corner.

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand X1 at the Monaco Grand Prix.

As mentioned earlier is a small stand with only 5 rows of seats labelled A (front row lowest down) to E (back row highest up).

Seats are numbered from 1 on the left hand side of the stand (if you stood on the circuit and look up at it) to 21 on the far right hand side.

Views

The image below shows the views of the circuit visible from X1 highlighted in pink.

As you can see, you only really get a view of the cars accelerating past you on the start / finish straight. You can’t really see the exit of Antony Noghes, nor can you see the start line. But you will be able to see the cars, teams, drivers, mechanics and VIPs lining up on the grid before the start of the race.

Unfortunately, regardless of where you’re sat in the standm you can’t see the pitlane either as the buildings on the opposite side of the track are between you and the pits. Those buildings aren’t the Paddock Club, that’s floating in the harbour.

Even though it’s cheap, it’s one of the closest stands to the circuit offering an amazing atmosphere as the car accelerate past you at full throttle down the straight.

The video below shows the view from Row E (back row) seat 18 of the stand.

The next video shows the view from Row A (front row) seat 20.

And this video shows the view from Row C seat 19:

Best seats

As the videos above show the view from the different rows or seats in this stand doesn’t change much, so it doesn’t make much difference which seats or ticket you select. I’d choose seats in the middle of the stand (10 – 15) in the back row (Row E) if possible, but it’s not critical.

This grandstand is accessed via entrance gate 4. For info on travelling to Monaco read my guide to the Monaco F1 travel and transport options.
