Grandstand location at the Monaco Grand Prix

Grandstand X2, also known as Tribune X2, is on the outside (left-hand side) of the start / finish straight on the Circuit de Monaco Formula 1 race.

It’s a small stand directly adjacent to the slightly smaller X1 grandstand and is between the exit of the final corner – Turn 19 Antony Noghes – and the start / finish line.

Buy Grandstand X2 Monaco tickets

This is a fairly small stand that’s one of the cheapest Monaco grandstands. But getting a reserved seat in this stand can be hard as they often sell out fast for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Monte Carlo F1 race weekend.

If that’s the case then I’d recommend buying tickets on ViaGoGo instead, where there’s often seats available right up until race day, even if they’re sold out elsewhere.

I’ve used Viagogo to book Formula 1 Grand Prix tickets numerous times and have always had a great experience using them. Plus they have a robust guarantee which means your money and tickets are always protected, which is good for added peace of mind!

I won’t hesitate to use them again to buy more F1 tickets next time I need some, especially as last time I got my tickets for the Vegas GP cheaper than the official price though them.

Grandstand details

Seats

The seats are all shared plastic benches with no back rest. You’ll have ‘reserved seats’, but that will just be a reserved space for you on the bench where there won’t be a huge amount of room between you and the person next to you.

Cover

There’s no cover over the stand, it’s fully open to the elements. It’s east facing so the sun will gradually move around behind you into the afternoon. There’s also a large building right behind the stand which offers a little shade towards the end of the day.

Make sure you dress for the weather at the Monaco GP.

TV screens

Unfortunately there’s no TV screen visible from grandstand X2 at the Monaco F1 race, which is one of its biggest drawbacks and part of the reason why it’s so cheap.

You’ll have to try and get Canal+ or F1 TV on your phone if you want to keep up with the Grand Prix race action.

Amenities

There are toilets available close behind this stand, and the nearest food and drink stalls will be next to grandstand V which is on the outside of the last corner.

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand X2 at the Monaco Grand Prix.

It only has 5 rows of seats labelled A lowest down at the front, to E highest up at the back.

Seats are numbered from 1 on the left hand side of the stand (if you stand on the circuit and look at the seats) to 47 on the far right hand side.

Views

The image below shows the views of the circuit visible from X2 highlighted in pink.

As the image shows you only really get a view of the cars accelerating past you on the start / finish straight. You’re too far away to see the exit of Antony Noghes, nor can you quite see the start line.

But this grandstand is in line with the last couple of slots on the grid, so if you sit in the higher seat numbers you’ll be able to see the last few cars, teams, drivers, mechanics and VIPs lining up on the grid before the race begins.

Regardless of where you’re sat in the tribune you can’t see the pitlane either. The buildings on the opposite side of the track are between you and the pits. Those buildings aren’t the Paddock Club terrace, that’s on the other side of the circuit.

So your view is pretty limited to just seeing the cars speed past you from right to left. But you are close to the track, so you get a lot of atmosphere and noise.

The video below shows the view from Row A (front row) seat 47 (closest seat to the start line).

The next video shows the view from Row E (back row) seat 30.

And this video shows the view from Row A (front row) seat 10.

Best seats

As the videos show the view from the different rows / seats in this stand doesn’t change much depending on which ticket you select.

But if it was my call, I’d try and be as close to the start line as possible and in the higher rows to be a little further from the fence. So I’d aim for seats 30 – 47, Row E as a preference.

This grandstand is best accessed via entrance gate 4. For tips on getting to the Grand Prix read my Monaco GP travel guide.
