Grandstand location at the Monaco circuit

Grandstand t is located near turns 16, 17 and 18 on the Monte Carlo F1 circuit. That’s near the exit of the swimming pool (Piscine) and just before the famously tight right-hander of La Rascasse.

The stand is on the left-hand side of the circuit as the cars pass it, and has its back to the marina full of multi-million dollar super yachts.

As well as looking directly at the track, it overlooks the pitlane. Get the right tickets in the Upper section (more on that further down) and you have great views of the pit garages and pit stops.

Grandstand T Tickets

Because of the unmatched view this stand gives you of the pitlane, it’s one of the most popular grandstands at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Tickets for it often sell out fast on the official website; if that’s the case then I’d recommend you book grandstand tickets through ViaGoGo, where there’s likely to be a good selection for sale even when they’re sold out elsewhere.

Plus you might be able to find them cheaper than the original list price on there as you get nearer to the event when people just want to sell them for whatever they can get for them.

I’ve used ViaGoGo for F1 tickets a number of times over the last few seasons, including when I went to the Las Vegas Grand Prix last year, and have always had great experiences with them. I’ll definitely be using them for my next F1 tickets this year.

They also have a ‘Fan Protect Guarantee’ which keeps your money and tickets safe, for added peace of mind.

Grandstand details

Cover & Seats

There are two different types of seats in this stand. The Lower section has plastic benches where you are allocated a space, but you’ll be very friendly with the person next to you.

The Upper section has individual seat bases that are more comfortable and have a little more room between each person. You pay more for the Upper section.

If you want covered reserved seats then only the top 4 rows of each section of this grandstand are under cover. Anything below that is officially uncovered and you’ll be at the mercy of the Monaco sun or rain, whatever the weather in late May / early June decides to do, so come prepared.

The covered rows at the top are more expensive again.

TV screens

There are two different TV screens visible from this stand. They’re on the barriers just across the track in front of you.

One’s nearer section T1 and one’s nearer section T3, but wherever you sit you’ll be able to see one or both of them. They’re super close so are easy to read and great for keeping up with the action.

Amenities

There are food and drink stands and toilets directly beneath this grandstand. At peak times (between F1 sessions) the lines for these can be long, but you should still get served within 10 mins.

Seating plan & section layout

This grandstand is made up of three different sections: T1, T2 and T3. T1 is closest to the exit of the swimming pool chicane (turn 16) and T3 is closest to Rascasse (turn 18), further around the lap.

Below is the seating chart for Grandstand T at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Each section has seat numbers that go from 1 on the left hand side of the stand (as you stand on the circuit and look up at the grandstand) and increase as you move to the right.

Rows are given letters. T2 and T3 start with Row A lowest down at the front. T1, for some reason, starts with Row D at the front. The rows then increase and when they pass Z they then go to ZA.

In all three sections, the ‘Lower’ (cheaper) tickets go up to Row M. Upper tickets are from Row N and above. And the covered parts of each section are rows X, Y, Z and ZA.

Views from the grandstand

The image below shows the areas of the Monaco circuit visible from different parts of the grandstand highlighted in pink.

In section T1, if you sit in the lowest seat numbers then you get an amazing view of the cars approaching from your right as they exit the high-speed swimming pool chicane.

The video below filmed from section T1 Upper, Row U seat 2 shows exactly this.

You don’t get that view from T2 or T3, so it’s unique to the lowest couple of seat numbers in T1.

As a comparison, the next video was filmed from section T2 upper, Row W seat 34. Whilst you can no longer see the F1 cars approaching from the right, the view of the pit lane is incredible. That’s the same for all upper rows in all sections.

To compare, this next clip was filmed from section T2 lower, row A, seat 40. As the pit lane is raised up, the rows in the lower section are too low to see the pit stop action.

So from here all you get is a quick flash of the F1 drivers buzzing past you, and a fence right in front of you too. But you do get an incredibly sense of speed as you’re so close to the action.

And finally this next clip was filmed from section T3 upper, row Z, seat 1. That’s one of the covered seats at the very top. The high vantage point gives a great view of the pit lane entry and the first couple of pit garages. The higher seat numbers in this stand will give you a better view of the cars entering Rascasse corner.

Best seats

Personally I’d try and get tickets in section T1 Upper, seat 1, row N and above. As the first video above shows, on this far edge of T1 you get to watch the cars come around the chicane to the right of this grandstand. No other section of T gives you the chance to see that.

Wherever you sit, I’d avoid the lower rows (A – M). Being able to see the pit lane action is a big appeal for this stand, so if you sit in the lower parts then you don’t have a view of that. Instead go for the Upper section in Row N and up.

T1 Upper and T2 Upper will give you a clear view of most of the pit garages. If you sit in T3 Upper you can see the pit entry and the first couple of garages, but not so many after that.
