Grandstand L location at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix
Grandstand L is located near the chicane of turns 15 and 16 on the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.
This is a high-speed chicane near the end of the lap with zero margin for error, and is often where Formula 1 drivers come unstuck if they turn in a little early and clip the barrier or large kerb. Just like Carlos Sainz did in FP2 in 2023.
The stand is on the right hand side of the track which is actually the infield. It backs directly on to the famous Piscine (swimming pool) which this section of the circuit is named after. It’s also adjacent to the pitlane which, if you sit in the right place, it has a great view of. More on that below.
Book Tickets
For its great view of this part of the circuit plus views of the pitlane, this is one of the most popular stands at the Monaco GP. But being a small stand it can sell out quickly on the official website.
So I would recommend you book your tickets on ViaGoGo instead. They will always have a good range of tickets available, all the way up until race day on the Sunday. Plus you can often find them cheaper than list price as you get closer to race weekend. Friday tickets will be cheapest.
I’ve used ViaGoGo a number of times over the last few seasons to buy F1 tickets and have always had a great experience with them, plus I’ve managed to snag a couple of bargains. I will definitely use them again for my next F1 visit.
Additionally they have a very robust FanProtect guarantee which gives me great peace of mind that my tickets and money are safe.
Grandstand details
Seats
For all ‘normal’ tickets in rows A – ZE the seats are all bench style bleachers with no backrests.
Gold tickets in the top row, row ZF, have slightly different seats. They have individual seat bases which give you a little more room to the person beside you. The fence behind these seats also acts as a backrest.

Cover
This stand is completely uncovered for all normal seats, even those in the gold row at the top.
There is, however, a covered terrace above and behind the stand which is for VIPs only (usually a Belvedere hospitality area). So for all other ‘normal’ tickets plan to have no cover from the sun (or rain) all day.

TV screens
There is one TV screen directly opposite this stand, just next to Grandstand T, easily visible from all seats.

Amenities
There are makeshift toilets right next to this stand, and food and drink stalls are only a short walk away next to Grandstand K, just the other side of the Swimming Pool.
Seating plan
Below is the seating plan for Grandstand L at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The seats are numbered 1 to 56 but unusually the numbers increase from right to left (if you stand on the track and look up at the stand).
The rows are named with letters, starting at Row A lowest down at the front increasing to ZF at the very top. Once they get to Z the rows go ZA, ZB, ZC etc.
There is just one Gold row at the very top of the stand which is row ZF, and tickets for this cost around 150 Euros more than all other seats in the stand. For that price you get a more comfortable seat and a fence to lean on (see above section) and the highest possible views, plus the ability to stand up without blocking anyone behind you.
Views
The image below shows the sections of the circuit visible from this stand highlighted in pink.
From pretty much wherever you sit in the stand, your view is limited to the cars coming through turns 15 and 16 at pretty high speed as they head away from you. You lose them out of sight as they go around the slight left-hander that follows as they’re hidden by the stand opposite.
The only exception to this is if you select a seat on the extreme left hand side of the stand (the extreme right hand side in the seating plan above) in seat number 1. Being on that edge of the stand allows you to turn round and watch the cars approach.
The panoramic image below posted by Reddit user ruggerfrosty shows the view from Row V seat 1 on the far edge of the stand. It shows how you get a great view not just of turns 15 and 16 but of the straight before it and, of course, the Monaco harbour full of superyachts.
This video shows the view from Row ZF seat 1. This is the Gold row, the back row, so the most expensive seats in the stand. Being seat 1 it again allows you to turn around and watch the cars come towards you.
This next clip was filmed from the other side of the stand, somewhere around Row W seat 45.
The other thing to be mindful of when picking seats in this stand is your ability to see the pitlane. The pits are to the right hand side and are raised up above the level of the track. That means if you’re in the lowest few rows of this stand, you’ll struggle to see the pit action.
Instead, make sure you get higher rows for a clear view. I’d suggest rows M and above for the best view.
This next clip shows how clearly you can see the pitlane from higher rows. This was filmed from Row ZD seat 12.
Another thing to note with trying to get a good view of the pits is don’t go for the highest seat numbers, as the enclosed staircase of the VPower bridge right next to this stand will obstruct your view of the pit lane and garages. Aim for seat 40 and below.
Best seats
The best seats in Monaco Grandstand L are those in row M and above, seat number 1. Being on this edge of the stand gives you the ability to turn around and watch the F1 cars approach, and row M and above gives you a nice high angle to see the pitlane.
If you can’t get seat 1 in any of those rows then don’t worry. If you’re in row M and above, all other seats up to about seat 40 will be great. I’d avoid getting a ticket for any seats higher than number 40 otherwise you run the risk of the bridge blocking your view of the pits.
