Tribuna J view circuit de catalunya

Grandstand J (Tribuna J) at the Circuit be Barcelona Cataluyna is a great place to sit if you get the right seats. If you get the wrong seats you’ll have your view massively obstructed, so read on below for my tips on where to sit.

Grandstand location at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona

Grandstand J or Tribuna J is located on the outside (left-hand side) of the start / finish straight at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona which hosts both the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and the MotoGP Catalan GP.

The circuit is in the municipality of Montmelo, around 20km north of Barcelona city.

Tribuna J sits directly opposite the pit lane exit and adjacent to Grandstand K to its left and the larger Main grandstand to its right.

Buy Grandstand J Spanish Grand Prix tickets

As this grandstand is well located with good views and is reasonably priced, it often sells out fast for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix.

If so, I’d recommend looking for tickets on ViaGoGo instead where you can often find them available right up until the Sunday of the race weekend, plus there will be lots of single-day ticket options.

MotoGP Catalunya tickets

You’ll also be able to find tickets for the Moto GP Barcelona Grand Prix of Catalonia on ViaGoGo, often for cheaper than the official list price.

I’ve used ViaGoGo a number of times for F1 and motorsport tickets, including when I went to the Las Vegas GP, and have always had a great experience using them. Plus they have a robust guarantee that protects your tickets and your money.

Seats

The seats in this grandstand are hard plastic chairs with a fixed base and back. Not the most comfortable – bring a small cushion!

Cover

This grandstand is not covered, it’s completely exposed to the weather and the sun, so make sure you wear appropriate protection. It faces North-West so the sun will be behind you / off to your left side for a lot of the day.

TV screens

There are two screens visible from this stand.

There is one main TV screen visible from this stand on the opposite side of the track, just off to the left.

At the 2024 Spanish F1 Grand Prix there was also a small screen at the top of the scoring pylon, that shows the race running order, at the pit lane exit, just to the right of this stand on the other side of the circuit.

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand J at Circuit de Catalunya Barcelona.

As the seating plan shows the grandstand is split in to 15 different Zones. Each zone is made up of a higher and lower section. The lower section goes from rows F1 – F11 and the upper section goes from rows F12 – F22.

The seats are numbered starting from 1 at the beginning of each Zone, and increase from left to right if you were to stand on the circuit and look up at the grandstand. Each zone is roughly 16 seats wide.

Views from the grandstand

The image below shows the areas of the track visible from Tribuna J highlighted in pink.

As the image shows, you see the section of the start / finish straight that passes directly in front of this stand. You’ll have the best view in the house of cars exiting the pitlane and you’ll be able to look to your left to see cars hit the brakes for Turn 1, where a lot of overtaking is likely to happen.

You can’t quite see the start / finish line to the right, but you can also see some of the infield section between turns 5 – 8.

However, in recent years at both the Formula 1 and MotoGP there has been a hospitality / VIP building built directly opposite this stand which obstructs the views of turns 6, 7 and 8 for those sat in the lower Zones of this grandstand, as the video below shows.

This video shows the view from Zone 4, Row 20, seat 1, and you can see how badly the black building opposite the stand blocks the views of the infield:

And this next clip shows the view from Zone 1, Row 20, seat 1. This is the furthest seat to the right on the seating plan (closest to the start line) and your view of the infield is even worse from here.

Whereas this next video clip was filmed from the Maverick Vinales fan club area in Tribuna J which is Zone 15 Row 12, and from here you can see past the building opposite and follow the cars or bikes all the way up through turns 7 and 8 on the infield:

This 360 degree image was taken from Zone 13, Row 22 (back row) seat 12. This was before the building was in place but it would have been just about ok if it was. The bonus of the back row is that you can stand up for the ultimate high viewing point:

And for reference, this video shows the view from Zone 6 row 15 before the building was put in place opposite. Now the view of the infield from here would be obstructed:

Best seats in the grandstand

The best seats in Grandstand J at Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya are those in Zones 13, 14 and 15. Any lower zones than that will have their view of the infield blocked by the building opposite.

Chose higher row numbers in the upper section for a better view of the infield and a wider vantage point when you look to your left or right.
