Grandstand T1 Circuit de Catalunya: Views, Tickets, Best Seats

Grandstand T1 view Spanish Grand Prix Barcelona

Grandstand T1(Tribuna T1) at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was new for 2024 and is back in action again this year. It offers covered seating at a high price point, but as you’ll see below, it’s overpriced given the view you get.

Read my guide below for more info on this newer grandstand, tickets, my tips on where to sit and better grandstand options.

Grandstand location at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Grandstand T1 is on the outside (left-hand) side of the circuit at the first corner at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya.

This grandstand is adjacent to Grandstand F (to its right) and Grandstand A (to its left).

The circuit, also known as the Circuit Montmelo, hosts both the F1 Spanish GP and the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix. It’s in the province of Montmelo, around 22km North of Barcelona.

Formula 1 tickets

This is quite a small grandstand and being covered tickets for it are in demand.

If you’re still looking for reserved seat tickets for this stand, you can do what I do and buy tickets on ViaGoGo. There you can find them for sale right up until Sunday of the F1 weekend. There’ll be a good selection of single day ticket options, plus you might be able to find a ticket for less than the original price.

MotoGP Catalunya tickets

In addition to the F1 you’ll be able to buy MotoGP tickets for the Catalunya GP on ViaGoGo as well. Again, there will be numerous 1, 2 or 3-day ticket options available right up until the last minute, and usually you can find some bargains.

I’ve bought motorsport and F1 tickets a number of times using ViaGoGo, including when I visited Las Vegas for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I’ve always had a great experience using their ticket platform. Plus their Fan Guarantee is robust and makes sure your money and tickets are safe – good for added peace of mind!

Tickets can go fast on their site, however. So my advice is if you see good tickets there, grab them quickly!

Grandstand details

Seats

This grandstand has hard plastic seats with fixed backs and bases.

Cover

This grandstand is covered. There’s a roof directly over it which keeps at the seats in the shade and out of the sun and rain.

It’s a flat roof and the rows of seats slope upwards towards the back of the stand, so those in the back rows have the roof close above them. Those in the front rows may still catch a little bit of sun or even a bit of rain if it’s extremely heavy.

TV screens

There’s a couple of TV screens visible from T1:

The main screen is the one to the right of this stand, next to Grandstand F. It’s big and easy to see from all seats:

There’s also another screen on the other side of the track on the outside of Turn 2. This one’s further away but still viewable:

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand T1 at Circuit de Catalunya Barcelona:

As the seating plan shows the stand is made up of 5 Zone. Each zone has 7 rows of seats, named F1 to F7. F1 is the front row lowest down and F7 is the back row highest up.

Seat numbers start from 1 at the start of each of the five zones, and increase from left to right (if you stood on the track and looked up at the stand). Each zone is the following number of seats wide:

  • Zone 1 –  5 seats wide
  • Zone 2 – 25 seats wide
  • Zone 3 – 25 seats wide
  • Zone 4 – 2 seats wide
  • Zone 5 – 4 seats wide

Views from the grandstand

The image below shows the sections of the race track visible from this stand:

As the image shows, your views from this stand are predominantly of the start / finish straight, Turn 1 and Turn 2.

You lose the cars or bikes out of sight behind grandstand A after Turn 2. And you’re too low down, regardless of which row you sit in, to see anything wortwhile of the infield.

As the stand is facing directly back down the start / finish straight, you can see the start line, pit-lane exit and if you’ve got binoculars, the exit of the final corner as well. And as you’re in prime position for the first corner, you’ll have a great view of any overtakes or incidents that take place here, which they often do.

The video below shows the view from Row F6 of Grandstand T1:

And here’s a video showing what the stand looks like:

Best seats in the grandstand

For the best view sit in zones 3, 4 or 5 for a view directly back down the main straight. Zone 1 is a little further to the right and you won’t have quite as much of a line of sight down the straight.

But if you want a covered grandstand with a view of the first few corners, Grandstand L is cheaper and offers much, much better views covering more of the track.
