Grandstand S Circuit de Catalunya: Views, Tickets, Best Seats

Tribuna S Catalunya Barcelona view

Grandstand S (Tribuna S) is a new covered grandstand at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya that’s available at the Spanish F1, but not currently at the MotoGP.

As this stand is new, details are limited. But below I’ve pulled together all the information available, plus my thoughts on what the stand will be like, to help you choose your seats.

Grandstand location at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Grandstand S is located on the outside of the circuit (left-hand side) just at the entry to the right hander of Turn 9. This is an uphil section of the track and Turn 9 is a fast sweeping corner.

Grandstand N is adjacent to this stand, directly to its left.

The Circuit de Barcelona is also known at the Circuit Montmelo as it’s in the municpality of Montmelo in Catalunya. It hosts the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and that’s the only event this grandstand is available for; it’s not currently available at the MotoGP.

Formula 1 tickets

If you are looking for reserved seat tickets for this grandstand, or any other grandstand at the Spanish Grand Prix then I reccommend you do what I do and buy tickets on ViaGoGo. They always have tickets available right up to the last minute, and they’ve usually got lots of 1, 2 or 3-day options. Plus you can often find them cheaper than list price.

MotoGP Catalunya tickets

If you’re going to the MotoGP then you can buy tickets for other grandstands at that event on ViaGoGo as well.

I’ve used ViaGoGo to buy F1 and Motorsport tickets a number of times over the last few seasons and have always had a great experience buying through them. I also used them for my trip to the Las Vegas F1 GP and had a great time.

Plus they have a good FanProtect guarantee which provides extra peace of mind by assuring your money and tickets are safe.

Seats

This grandstand will have hard plastic chairs.

Cover

Tribuna S will be covered with a roof over it. The grandstand faces North East and the roof is high at the front, so those in the front 5 rows are still likely to be in the sun in the morning.

TV screens

There’s just one TV screen visible from this stand on the opposite side of the circuit, close to the inside of Turn 9. It’s right in front of the stand.

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand S at Circuit de Catalunya Barcelona:

As the seating plan shows the grandstand is split in to two sections. The first section is Zones 1 – 4 and the second section is Zones 5 to 8.

All zones are split in to upper and lower areas. In Zones 1 – 4 the lower area goes from Row F1 (front row) to Row F12 and the upper area goes from Row F13 to Row F22 (back row).

In Zones 5 – 8 the lower area goes from Row F1 to Row F8 and the upper area is from Row F9 to Row 18.

Seat numbers start at 1 at the beginning of each zone and increase from left to right if you were to stand on the track and look up at the grandstand.

Views from the grandstand

The image below shows the areas of the circuit visible from Tribuna S highlighted in pink:

When sat in your seats and you look to your right you’ll be able to see the F1 cars just as they exit Turn 7. There’s a bridge that will block your view of that slightly, but when they emerge under it you’ll see them come through Turn 8 and up the hill in front of you.

The cars will then enter and apex Turn 9 directly in front of you before continuing up the hill towards Turn 10. The further to left you sit in this stand (the higher your Zone number) the longer you’ll be able to see them for once they exit Turn 9.

But you won’t be able to see down the next straight towards Turn 10; you’ll lose them out of sight before that.

Best seats in the grandstand

I’d recommend trying to get seats as high as possible in this grandstand. Higher seats always give you a better vantage point and being covered, they ensure you’ll always be in the shade (unlike the front few rows).

I would chose lower Zone numbers to have a better chance of seeing more of the action at Turn 7.
