Tribuna K Circuit de Barcelona Cataluyna view

Grandstand K (Trinbuna K) at the Circuit de Barcelona Cataluyna is a great place to sit to see the first few corners of the track if you choose the right seats.

Below is my guide to the views from this grandstand and how to pick the best places to sit.

Grandstand location at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

Grandstand K is on the outside (left-hand side) of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, towards the end of the start finish straight, a short way after the pit lane exit.

The grandstand sits in between Grandstand E and the slightly larger Grandstand J.

The circuit hosts the Spanish Formula 1 GP and the MotoGP Catalunya, and this grandstand is available at both those major events.

The circuit is in the municipality of Montmelo, around 20km north of Barcelona city.

Formula 1 tickets

As this grandstand is well located with good views of T1 (more on that lower down) it often sells out fast for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix.

If so, I’d recommend looking for tickets on ViaGoGo instead where you can often find them for sale right up until Sunday of the race weekend. Plus there will be lots of single day ticket options, and some may be cheaper than the original price too.

MotoGP Catalunya tickets

You’ll also be able to find tickets for the Moto GP Grand Prix of Catalonia (Catalan GP) on ViaGoGo, often for cheaper than the official list price.

I’ve bought motorsport tickets a number of times from ViaGoGo, including when I went to the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, and have always had a great experience using their platform. Plus their FanProtect guarantee makes sure your money / tickets are safe which has always given me extra peace of mind!

Grandstand details

Seats

This grandstand’s seats are hard plastic chairs with fixed backs and based. They aren’t all that comfortable so bringing something soft, like a cushion, to sit on is a good idea.

Seats

Cover

The grandstand is completely uncovered. There’s no shade or sn protection, so bring suitable clothing, headwear and sunglasses.

The grandstand faces North West so the sun will be behind you for a lot of the day and move around to your left later in the afternoon.

TV screens

There are two screens visible from this stand.

If you’re sat on the right hand side of the stand as you look at the track, there’s a screen just off to the right hand side:

If you sit to the left hand side then you can see a slightly smaller screen on the left.

Seating plan

Below is the seating plan for Grandstand K at Circuit de Catalunya Barcelona.

As the seating plan shows the grandstand is split in to 9 different Zones. Each zone is made up of an upper and lower section. The lower section goes from rows F1 – F11 and the upper section goes from rows F12 – F22. F1 is the front row and F22 is the back row.

The seats are numbered starting from 1 at the beginning of each Zone, and increase from left to right (if you were to stand on the circuit and look up at the grandstand). Each zone is roughly 16 seats wide.

Views from the grandstand

The image below shows the areas of the track visible from Tribuna K highlighted in pink.

The image shows that you’ll have a view of the start / finish straight that passes directly in front of this stand. You can’t quite see the start line, however, as it’s a little too far to the right.

If you get seats in high enough rows, you can then see the cars as they go through Turns 1, 2 and 3. You need seats in the upper section (Rows 12 and up) to be able to see the first three corners, and the higher the better.

You will also have a view of the circuit infield and, again if you get a high row, you can see Turns 5, 6, 7, 8 and the run up to Turn 9.

This video was filmed from Zone 5, Row F22 (the back row). This is the highest row possible and the best vantage point and from here you can see Turn 1, almost all of Turn 2, the entry to Turn 3 and then all of the infield sections from turns 5 – 9. It’s a great view:

The only way to improve that view above slightly would be to move to a slightly higher Zone number so that your view of Turn 2 isn’t blocked by the small mound on the inside of the circuit, but that’s just being picky!

As a comparison, this next video was filmed from Zone 2 Row F6, much lower down and further to the right side of the stand:

As you can see in the video above, the lower vantage points means you can only really see the entry to Turn 1, not the apex. Plus you can’t see anything of Turns 2 or 3. The only infield section you can see is the short straight between turns 6 and 7. A much more limited view.

This next video was filmed from Zone 8 Row F12. Not quite as high up in the stand as the first video above, but still in the upper section which gives a limited view of the first view turns but still some visibility of the infield:

And this 360 degree image was taken from Zone 5 Row F15:

And for reference, this video shows the view from Zone 6 row 15 before the building was put in place opposite. Now the view of the infield from here would be obstructed:

Best seats in the grandstand

The best seats in Grandstand K are those in the Upper sections (rows F11 and up) in Zones 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Ideally you’d get a seat in the back row, Row F22, which would give you the highest vantage point. I prefer Zones 5 to 9 as you’re slightly closer to the first few corners in those zones.

To keep it simple, just try and buy seats as a high as possible in this stand. I personally wouldn’t chose this stand if I couldn’t get a seat in the upper section.
